◊ Occupation:
Courier who delivers small parcels over a great distance. If someone has ordered an item of importance and would want it as soon as possible rather than wait, Carth is the man for the job. He doesn’t prefer going to places outside of Ira because of the time and effort, but since he is paid for the miles and is promised a bonus when he gets to his destination, he’ll take the job. Because of his line of work, he doesn’t have a place to call his own, but his main area of occupancy are the hotels in the Ira seaports along Verhorn Bay (his most popular area of business).
Because of trade across national borders and districts, he must have an idea of what kind of item he is carrying as to not cause some kind of international dispute; tension between countries is high enough. THe package label doesn’t have to be in great detail, just the name or basic idea of what the item is (for example: if he’s carrying clothing it should say “fashion,” or if it’s a weapon it should say “sword, ax, etc.”). If it is an illegal item, then he can only transport it across borders IF the package is to a person of high stature that has been given special permission for the item to be delivered to them. In that case, Carth would need the seal of the individual in his possession in order to safely gain passage into that country of Sin. He never use to be this careful, but after being falsely accused and accidentally thrown in jail a few times, it’s a new policy of his. However his speed and skill with delivering the packages on time and in one piece hasn't made him lose any of his normal customers. He can carry multiple parcels and plans his route out ahead of time. He takes one personal week off for the first week of the new year.
◊ Abilities: “Flight” and Wind Resistance
Flight – This doesn’t really mean he can fly around whenever he wants. Since some of his deliveries are up in really high or hard to reach places, he decided to pay for a set of enchanted tattoos that give him the ability of flight. Sadly this uses up a ton of energy and the most he can use it at a time is around five or six minutes. After that, he is so tired he’d rather take a nap on Agrippa’s back while the horse walks back home than to try and bother with anything else. He can call off the power any time to save energy.
Wind Resistance – What has made him a well-known courier for speed is a little trick he picked up during past travels. As Carth’s element is wind, he has been taught a way to use his wind energy to lightly coat his body and Agrippa’s with rotating winds to slightly push away the opposing wind blowing against them. This creates a gap of less resistance that allowed him to move faster. However since he’s a lesser demon, his pool of magic is rather small, and because he’s so busy all the time he doesn’t really have the time to learn how to expand his magical capabilities. The wind magic is also a bit weak so the speed difference isn’t really that much. For example, if he’s moving at a maximum speed of 10 mph (16.09 kph) and uses his ability, he could probably move 0.5mph or 1mph (0.8 – 1.6 kph) faster than normal. It’s not much at all, but over a long distance, it makes up a ton of difference. He mainly uses this trick in the beginning of long trips to gain himself some more ground and lessen the pressure of time. Then he just kicks back and lets his solar powered horse do the rest.
◊ Personality:
As the job calls for, Carth is quite well mannered when interacting with a potential customer or someone of stature. Whenever he becomes more comfortable around others, he can act very relaxed and is quite the chatterbox, talking about his travels to various places, the people he’s met, etc. He will easily go on and on about his travels across the world, as well as personal ideals and dreams (being on the road alone all the time with a horse that doesn’t talk back gets a bit lonely). He has befriended a few people across the territories, so whenever he visits or passes through a certain area (and has the time) he enjoys going out to the local eatery or bar to chat and have a few drinks. He enjoys trying to turn certain situations into something more positive and exciting, since if he doesn’t he can turn into quite a moody grump. He has encountered his fair share of rude and ignorant customers, so he is a lot more blunt in expressing his opinion if he disagrees with something or feels like something isn’t right. Carth does have a right to turn down a package if he knows a customer is a real jerk, but if he does take the job he’ll let them know how much he despises them once he’s reached his boiling point. He tends to keep himself under control rather well, but when he’s reached his peak it’s best to allow him to let it all out rather than keep it pent up. If in the same room as him when he gets like this, it’s best to quickly leave before some flying object hits you in the head (unless he’s pissed at you, then you better run for the hills licktey-split). The man also sleeps like a log, so if someone manages to somehow wake him up, they better have a really good reason for it as he tends to act like a grumpy bear when he’s half asleep. Depending on the situation, the best way to calm him down is to give him a really delicious sweet of any kind (his sweet tooth is his number one weakness~ lol), then he’ll just huff, grumble a bit, then try to just sigh it off like a snorting bull. Another way is that he has a pretty sensitive scalp, so if he’s close friends with a female and he goes off on a rage fit, it’s best to give his scalp a little message which’ll calm him down rather quickly (if done when he’s tired you can put him to sleep on the spot if you do it good enough. Men he’ll just glare at, then slap them across the face).
Other than the occasional rage fit (mostly fueled by the stress of traveling and a few other things), he can be a nice guy who spoils the women he takes interest in and a bro to guys he becomes close friends with. He highly enjoys going to parties he hears are in the area, taking part in dance battles, games in the streets, and even enjoying casual walks around town chatting about things that aren’t too business related. He’s an easy guy to get along with if you treat him respectfully, but if you treat him wrongly he’ll act like you don’t even physically exist, and/or make it exceptionally hard for him to even give a thought about forgiving you.
◊ History:
Carth’s family lineage has always been out at sea: trading, fishing, pirating… pretty much everything that involved the seemingly endless bodies of water. Their most popular area of commerce was in the Verhorn Bay along the coast of Ira. Carth’s recent branch of the family tree became a little more invested in trade so they traveled quite a ways all up and down the coast of the Sin continent. However, during one say in one of the Ira ports, Carth’s father conceived with a virgin from a brothel, and nine months later, Carth was born. Sadly, Carth had to be given up to an orphanage around the age of two or three as the mother didn’t really take any interest in him, hiding him in a closet when she had to do her job or handing him over to one of the other prostitutes to take care of. The orphanage had a healthy growing environment, but because a lot of the children there were born from prostitutes they weren’t really considered for adoption by certain standards because of potential diseases or muddied bloodlines.
After a few years, Carth left the orphanage at a young age to work on one of the trade ships. He worked on it, and a few different ships/companies, for over 150 years before he eventually hit the point of his life where although the sea was vast, borderless, relentless, and beautiful, it got boring. Eventually, his thoughts turned to the land and the curiosities of what else there was beyond the shores and bustling sea towns. So Carth left his days of sea trading behind and tried his luck at being a mass cargo transporter by unloading the ships into massive caravans and traveling the land that way. At first it was exciting, since he never been so far inland in his life, but being within a huge crowd of people who haven’t bathed in days, became moody and grouchy from a lack of food and rest, constantly being the target of rogue tribes in the Ira desert, and just the overall moody atmosphere, Carth left the job of sixty years after a stray arrow nailed him under the left arm during a raid. It was exciting, but he couldn’t stand always being around so many people who barely knew self-control or how to properly defend themselves.
The need to travel stayed with him, so eventually he focused his attention to becoming a courier. It was a one-man job, you got to travel anywhere and however you wanted, and the pay was so much better than it was with a group of people. His ideal job was a bit delayed since he didn’t want to just be a running courier, as it took too long and he knew he couldn’t run as fast as he wanted, even with the new wind resistance ability he was practicing with after an individual he met during his travels helped him tap further into his element abilities (the furthest he ever got was to make a little more wind with his hand to cool himself off during the brutal days out in the desert). The other problem was… that he never really bothered how to ride a horse properly. He did jump on the backs of some pack animals and walk them around, but he really didn’t know how to actually control one. He spent a year trying to find his traveling companion while working a small job as an unloader for docking ships. Eventually, he came upon the sun stallion that was a part of the delivered cargo of other horses that was to be sold in the market. During the travel by sea the horse became sick, and since it was still fairly young, no one wanted to buy the animal because it looked like it wouldn’t survive the year. Carth pitied the animal, and since it was going for such a low price, he decided to buy and shelter it at his home he recently bought in a rural town. After a few months Agrippa got over his illness and grew stronger, so after a few more years the horse grew into a strong and capable animal with large sunstones. This allowed the horse to go much further without the need for physical nutrition, and enough energy to keep up its fast speed for many, many miles.
Afterward, Carth finally quit his job as a docking unloader and picked up the job as a courier. Since then, Carth has highly enjoyed his job and the places he can visit. He’s become a lot more comfortable with traveling by himself, but his welcoming and brighter attitude allows him to enjoy whatever company he gets for however long they’re around. His need to explore allows him to pick up any job from anywhere, which has helped spread the word of him to certain employers. Sadly this also makes it impossible for Carth to have a place of his own, but with his need to travel being satisfied, he doesn’t see any need to settle down anytime soon.
◊ Likes / dislikes:
Likes:
Sleeping – He doesn’t get enough time to rest, but when he does he’s out like a light for hours. A simple nap could go on for as long as a normal rest would be. Main problem is, he sleeps like a rock. You could kick him in the back while he’s sleeping and he wouldn’t so much as twitch. The number one way to wake him up is to make him feel like he’s falling (like a falling dream).
Women – Loves them and can’t get enough of them. He is quite the flirt for some, but he doesn’t really go as far as a kiss on the hand or cheek since his line of work prevents most relationships from forming. He’s a little sexist over certain matters since he grew up in a more male controlled district as a kid, but overall he holds a high respect towards the female gender and treats them with the respect that they deserve.
Cuisine – As a courier his job has taken him to every country on the continent, and since he’s had to stay within some of them for quite a long period of time, he’s learned to not be picky about the certain foods offered to him. So he eats just about anything (save for things that are so slimy they make him gag). The only things he can’t eat are anything that has real coconut in it. The stuff gives him a really bad case of the hives.
Candies and Sweets – Carth probably has the biggest sweet tooth anyone has ever seen. Chocolate is his weakness, and if he finds a candy he highly enjoys from a certain country, it’s always a good idea to use the sweet as a bargaining chip to make him do certain tasks (that aren’t too extreme, mind you).
Freestyle Dancing – He absolutely loves freestyle dancing and prefers to go to late night parties in certain popular areas just to let off some stress from an eventful day. Dancing is one of his favorite pastimes, but he prefers to free style than actual dancing.
Parkour – Grew up with it since the shipping towns he grew up in were very packed together and moved up the sides of very steep hills. Easiest way to get from the top to the bottom and vice versa was via traveling by rooftop, so after many years of doing this, he became a bit of an expert in his eyes. It’s illegal in some places of other countries, but if he’s in a rush to deliver something he doesn’t mind breaking a few rules. Besides, he’s fairly good at throwing off any pursuers when it comes to his element. Also using a bit of his wind element to jump further has made him a really big thrill junkie. He’s pretty much outgrown any fear of heights. Dislikes:
Coconut – Or really anything that has real coconut in it. Gives him really bad hives when he ingests it. He can physically touch it, but when it gets to his lips and tongue, the side effects surface pretty quickly.
Needles – He turns pale and weak at the knees. He’s never fainted before, but he gets pretty dang close. He doesn’t panic and try to swat them away, but the mere sight of it gets him so weak in the knees after a minute he has to sit down if he keeps looking and thinking about it. Even during a conversation involving needles, he gets clammy hands and his face drains of color. Medical needles are pretty much the number one thing to get him to act like this.
Cold – since he has a higher body temperature he prefers to enjoy warmer areas and will tolerate mild weather. However, even though his body is warm, he utterly hates the cold, and snow. Dreads it. He likes to see it when going to colder regions, but that’s about all he likes about snow. When going into colder regions he dresses up more than most because he values warmth above anything. So if you want to find Carth in a cold region, just look for the guy walking around with tons of jackets and furs on while complaining bitterly under his breath. Because of this hatred of the cold, he rarely accepts parcels into those regions unless the payment for delivery is really, really high.
◊ Additional Information:
Carth's lineage is better known for their sea fairing and trade. The wind element is the most common element for his bloodline, which gave them a huge advantage out at sea for faster sailing, escaping pirates, and to better survive the terrible storms out in the middle of nowhere. His family, the Dieters, did most of their trading within Verhorn Bay and the inhabited islands off the coasts of Avaritia and Ira. Now, Carth’s itching need to see something else besides the endless blue, but still feed his need for travel, he’s taken up the job as a courier. It’s not rare, as many sea faring demons and humans do it sometime in their lives, but so far he’s enjoying certain aspects of land travel more than sea travel. Carth has sharper top and bottom canines as well as tapetum lucidum, which is a layer of tissue common in the eyes of many vertebrae animals. This causes him to have eyeshine, which makes his pupils appear like they’re glowing in dim light or under flashing lights. This grants him a much better ability to see in the dark; perfect for night traveling. He has a habit of calling a lot of people “kid” unless he knows that they’re someone of a more important stature. He only really uses it when he knows, or thinks he knows, that the other person won’t get upset or insulted by a simple way of wording. So like how most people say “Hey man!” he’ll say “Hey kid!” Other than that, it’s a Sir/Ma’am type of deal.
His average body temperature is a warm 102.6°F (39.22°C)Mount- Agrippa is a stallion hailed from the deserts further down the coast of Ira from the Verhorn Bay. His breed is commonly used for transport across the desert because of their lower than average maintenance compared to that of normal or demonic horses. The gems in their antlers act much in the same way as chlorophyll collects energy from the sun. The gems harness the energy from the sun, which causes the gems to glow rather bright depending on how long they are exposed to sunlight. This grants them pure energy that they can survive on for about a week before they require more physical nutrients the sun’s energy can’t provide. The gems are as hard as diamonds and the bones of their antlers are a bit stronger than the rest of the bones in their body. The horses don’t fight with these antlers, as if one snaps off their chances of survival go way down. Even though they do require physical nutrients every week or more, the lack of sunlight/moonlight energy will wear off and eventually kill them since they start to wither away. They can go without sunlight for about a week, but they must be eating physical foods during that length of time or they’ll die much sooner.
- There is a breed of much darker colored fur that relies on moonlight energy more than sunlight, but they aren’t as common and prefer to live in the mountainous regions than the desert as there is little to no shade out in the sands. The neat thing about these horses is that in darker places, their semi-transparent gems glow as bright as flashlights, and the way they move gives the illusion of a will-o-the-wisp. If someone is expecting Carth to enter town, just look to the horizon at night and see if you can see a floating light off in the distance.
- All in all, if someone wanted to own this horse breed, just stick your solar powered horse out into the sunlight/moonlight and let it charge up to full battery. Water and feed it at least once a week (more water than anything)
- His mount is based off of the Friesian Horse body (as they are such beautiful horses), and this is also my first time drawing a horse in years so I'm happy with the outcome! But then I wanted to make it look mythical... so I stuck antlers on it with shiny things. Iamsocleverwithmountdesignscanyoutell.

He may sell a few little things he's found on his travels, or use them for trade. Although they're usually small things he keeps in that box on the horse's back (you can see it in the description, since Carth's big head is blocking it in the app, lol).
