This photo is totally breathtaking. I can't believe it !!! How could you have such a Bulleye effect with 40mm focal and such light at 1/4000s !!!!! Anyway it's mighty and gorgeous ! It looked like a big storm was coming. Usually, you see that kind of storm clouds from a plane. I'm truly amazed.

*blinks*

...I just stared at this a while longer and realized.. this isnt a render at all! Im not sure to be happy about that, or feel betrayed, but I know for a fact my 3d programs are blessing your name as I type this *g*

Knowing its the real deal makes me love it even more. I do believe I must fav it so that I can oogle it on a regular basis.

You're getting downright -deadly- with that camera woman. Im floored.

*floating ovation*

hah
ure most kind i dont deserve it. nature is just simply amazing. this was taken while driving on a tiny narrow road and i was just trigger happy. see the speed...took about 20 on continuous and got this one have couple more to post when i get off work this weekend. i wish i knew how to make this similar into bryce or other but my knowledge of 3d is really basic. the clouds look like they are stiff dont they. the best thing of arizona..the clouds...
oh and i got me a pentax and some nice nice lenses ill see what i can do..still have to buy a film scanner

Nahh.. My stuff is painter 9. Usually in oils (thought I do like the chalk as well) I use photos for reference ( as is noted in my constant nagging to paint YOU ) and baring that, I have 3d programs to create what I need referenced. I am continually frustrated by them though as I see some of the amazing work others are able to produce with such programs and I have trouble with the simplest functions. I'd love to get good at 3d as it's addictive as hell, but so far it seems to be beyond me aside from the odd reference render. Mr-miley does some great landscapes with a free product called terragen. You can take a peak here if you like

Once you pilfer through his gallery, you'll understand why I thought it was a render.
as to the photo over a render, yes you can use photos as 'backgrounds' in some programs.. though I don’t think you can in terragen.. unless you pop it into something like Photoshop and doctor it that way I suppose.

Considering that I suck at photography as much as I do at 3d, I still say this one is a keeper for sheer novelty alone

Hey Stacey Sorry to butt in on someone elses conversation but.... You can "drape" an aerial photo over an actual real world terrain in Terragen but thats cheating. You can apply textures to areas of your terrain constraining them by steepness of slope and height. I do use photo textures that have been doctored to be seamless tiles. I usually do this for grass etc.

Any road up thanks for mentioning me *swells chest with pride* and siona, the photo is just gob smacking. Its outstanding. the coulours are incredable, and the clouds..... You are a truly gifted photographer, most excellent work and a for sure

interesting. aerial as in from above? is that the only perspective? i saw a bit of texturing in brazil... the most amazing interior textures adn renders that ive seen...
anyway... thanks for the fav and stopping by to both of u

Yeah, aerial as in satelite photo taken looking straight down. If you drape it over the terrain you can then position your camera and view it from any angle. I have seen some god examples of this, though in the whole, its cheating
