Description One of a few drawings I might be submitting as part of my 'Body of Work' for Visual Arts. I wanted to do a short animated film but damn that's a lot of work for as I am now. Maybe in my uni days.

I appreciate feedback and criticism of any kind, let me know what you think!

Thanks! I wanted the minimal presence of colour to be the focus of the drawing, though I think the lens flare is kinda messing that up.

It's got a lot of potential but there are a plethora of mistakes that make it seem a bit off.

Let's start with the character: If you see her neck is a bit too thick for her head and also it appears as if her head is a bit stretched too far wide. It's evident with the spacing of her eyes since they are a bit too far apart. As we go down we see the pose is a bit too stiff. The arm in the foreground isn't necessarily wrong its just that its so in profile that it looks less dynamic up near the shoulder. Ontop of that the folds of the drapery don't look like they're naturally flowing to the tension of the body. Annnnd the hands may be a bit too small for her overall size.

The second element is the color scheme. It's nice in gray scale and it really works to help that mood and atmosphere of the rain. The accent of red in her hair is also a great compositional element to bring focus to that area. But I feel the red could be a bit more saturated to really make it pop since everything else is desaturated. What I don't particularly like is the lens flare to her right. It'd be fine if it were in color since you could really see the rays of light in the distance were the rain has either left or is yet to go. However, as it is in gray scale it just becomes confusing since the values clash with what is supposed to be the background and makes it too confusing.

Ahh looks like it's time to go back and study some anatomy But it's funny how you pointed out all the things I thought were off, especially with the clothing folds and pose. Though I didn't expect the proportions of the head to be off, but I see what you mean now.

Also I can kinda see how the lens flare is causing some confusion in the values, that explains why it was such a hard decision if I should keep it or not. I felt it also was a bit distracting for the colour in her hair.

Thanks for the critique! It's a big help letting me know what I have to work on
