Description
The class D-15 v5 Gladiator is one of the few examples of Dark Guard technology outstripping that of the Guardians. Unlike the clunky, slow, and temperamental War Automatons, the Gladiator Executive Armor is nearly as fast and reliable as the magically-powered Golems, partially because these three-ton war machines run exclusively on rune-cores (power generators that harness magical energy) stolen, salvaged, and cannibalized from Guardian machines. This virtually endless (but not limitless) supply of power gave the designers a large amount of leeway to bulk up the machine with hydraulics, armor and weapons. The Gladiator is fitted with the same reflective shield as used on the heavy War Automatons [link] as well as a heavily modified version of their legs.
Because of the vast expenses involved in building and maintaining these commanding war machines the Gladiator Executive Armor is only issued to high-ranking Dark Guard. Nirana's Gladiator is especially fearsome. It makes use of a monsterous class 3 rune core which takes up a quarter of the torso to make the machine uncharacteristically agile especially when considering the heavy weapons load. In addition to the standard shield and mace Nirana's Gladiator is armed with a 30mm automatic assault rifle, a pair of short range rockets, and a massive 80 caliber six-shot revolving cannon. On the back of the beast are a pair of liquid-fuel rocket boosters that actually allow the war armor to jump a considerable distance and hight.
