STORY (300+ words)
Aliah was very nervous today. It wasn't because she was afraid of dragons or dark or anything. Absolutely not. Have you ever seen her? She's a strong, strong woman. Octavian was okay too. He was the okayest he's ever been, actually, full of positive energy, very willing to work. Tonight, their competition will go great.
So yeah. And everything above absolutely wasn't the truth. Nothing was going according to plan. After 20 kilometers of driving (after very long persuing session which consisted of Aliah and her trainer trying to get Octavian into the trailer) she remembered that they left Octavian's saddle in the stables so they had to turn around. When arriving at the facility, Aliah tried to park the trailer and made an absolute fool of herself when it didn't really work out. To be honest, she never considered herself a bad driver, but this - whatever it was - was really embarrassing.
After they loaded out Octavian, it was already getting dark and the dumb horse started to get spooked by literally everything. "Yeah, sure, Oct, go all out, I don't mind," Aliah said sarcastically.
Finally, the list of entrants came into their hands. She looked at it and read it, trying to find their name. And read it again. And again. "Oh for f-sake noooo Octavian you won't believe this we're being the last to jump the course." Aliah collapsed onto Octavian's bum dramatically and let out a frustrated cry. "I'm absolutely Not nervous, I'm fine. Strong entity. Of course." Octavian looked at her sympathetically as if he understood and started eating his hay, further unbothered.
Finally, it was their turn. The lights went out in the stable and Octavian lost his head. "Nononono it's okay you're okay-" they tried to calm the stallion down, but he ran off the building into the arena where he luckily stopped. "Ahaha. Sorry about that. He's a little frisky today," Aliah proclaimed towards the judges and got on. "We got this Oct," she whispered and gently nudged the horse to go forward.
As it happened to her quite frequently. The swaying of a horse's canter calmed her down. They got through the course, scoring a great time, and calmly returned to the stables.
"You did great, buddy," Aliah said, content, and petted the stallion on his broad neck.
