Wonderful,
interesting way to show one's personality, makes me think in many directions, the sharpness isn't such a problem, it makes details more see-able, and the contrast between the hands and the face is remarkable.
If the idea of a self portrait is to show a person i think this clearly shows how people have layers, and the thing you see from the inside is not the thing you find inside, not always...
However, wonderful like i said.

the lines of your hand are just amazing.. I feel mezmerized while looking at them... it's your life in them, you know this?

and yes, the expression of your eyes..mhh.. it makes me wish to come, to touch your lines and say that everything will be just great.

and I love your hair.

Again, great lighting.
I like the pose and expression, it's hard and aggressive yet it's not, it has an indefinable softness to it, like dance, a projection of character and feeling. I think this comes from the position and shaping of the hand in their pose.
awsome detail in the hands.

The 'hand portraits' idea is something I copied from where I first saw it, which was in ~Renoux 's photos. Thanks again for a nicely structured comment, and also for the fav on this and 'smack!'

i'm not very good with constructive comments about photos but, i like the expression of your face. a mix between anger and lassitude. i like the light.. i don't no what to do to eventually make it better, i'm not enough good at photo.. so. it's just a feeling.

Well, unless it's for a scientific publication, interpretations are based largely on feelings I'm glad you like the photo

too sharp? I don't think so.

Only critique I hve is you do make you self look very feminine here and i don't know know if that's intentional.

sirlatrom In reply to ZeoGU [2005-02-28 07:29:27 +0000 UTC]

ehh.. i've been told a few times I'd be beautiful if I were a woman so I guess I look feminine sometimes, I don't mind it though. it wasn't intentional, but I see what you mean (I think). thanks for commenting

thanks a lot then I'm not much into fashion myself, so just for future reference (like if I were ever to take fashion magazine photos intentionally), which things can you, as an expert, tell me about this photo that are fashion-magazine like?

seems I've got a talent for that: [link]
anyway, I got a lot of inspiration for hand-portraits from looking at ~Renoux 's photos, he's brilliant at them (and at portraits in general).

nice composition. nice portrait.. one of the best i saw this year.
sharpness etc aren't that important... i'd love to know you motives and reasons for this kinda photo.. why that face expression?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sirlatrom In reply to demony [2005-02-27 19:13:28 +0000 UTC]

wow, thanks luckily we're only two months into this year, so chances are you'll see a lot portraits that are better.
well, when it comes to the motive for the expression and for the photo, I got problems I don't have any reasons for it, really. maybe I should make up stories before I make my photos, I don't know.

it really is nice portrait... in last few months.. i'm not counting exactly from 1.1.2005.

btw don't me making stories up.. try to express some emotion. it doesn't have to be very deep or dramatic or non-forgetable.. just honest. it's not about the honesty here... if you can get in to some made-up feeling and express it well - great. i hope i'm understandable to you.

ppl love emotions that can relate to... it gives them a feeling somebody understands them. don't undervalue this "trick"... it really is nice when you feel understood.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sirlatrom In reply to demony [2005-02-28 07:31:30 +0000 UTC]

the real trick is then to make the illusion of a unique and true feeling, which is, I'd say, the hardest part. I totally agree, it's wonderful to be understood, especially if you're a rambling lunatic
