I am not sure why you would use a shield with a magic staff, but I never played the game, how strange.

I am currently trying to work my way through Temple of Elemental Evil with the Circle of 8 mod. They fixed many of the worst problems of the game and added some new content/repaired some deleted content. Still some bugs in it though, but it's more playable than it was. In the base game you can have up to five main characters and pick up two followers. The maddening thing was that followers had their own looting system: some of them would loot EVERYTHING, then complain about the weight, and refuse to ever sell anything - except for stuff you GAVE them. The old work-around was to go to the local cloth-maker and buy gloves until you filled their inventory so they had no room, but even that could cause problems. And the next time you went to a shop-keeper they'd sell the gloves so you had to keep buying them back again. But Co8 fixed this so that you can give stuff to followers and edit their inventory without fear they'd sell the wrong stuff. Imagine you find a magic weapon none of your main characters can use so you give it to a follower who can, and then they sell it? MADDENING.

TOEE - the only (semi-)modern turn-based D&D strategy game. And it sucked.

That mod is great, however, and makes the game at least playable. I never used any NPCs in my party. My 8 adventurers were created by me and included a halfling commone... um, a halfling rogue whose stats were sub 10!

Rofl. There are some interesting NPCs - for instance if you complete the whole series of quests involving the two brothers that are feuding over their shared barn you get a chance to marry Meleny, the cute daughter who chats with you a bit. The male PC who marries her needs a 16 charisma tho. She's a level 1 Druid - she and her animal companion are a decent asset. I load her with cure spells and summon spells - and if you marry her her poppa gives you a +1 Holy Longsword - an amazing weapon to have to start with. Elmo makes a ferocious tanky fighter as well. His +1 battleaxe and list of feats that make him good with it, and his +1 chainmail and +2 shield make him a tough nut for enemies to try to crack. There are also several other followers who are interesting.

I was trying to put together a party with only 2 PCs so I could grab a bunch of Followers to see how they'd perform. I had a plan to turn one of them (Fruella - the other girl you can marry in Homlett) into a Cleric because of her high wisdom, but discovered that despite the fact that she forces her whole family to convert to the new temple so that she can have a church wedding she's true neutral and can only become a Druid. There's supposed to be a cleric in the expanded group of people inside the temple that you can bring into your party - and I'd probably have taken him instead of I could have found him. But I was also curious about Fruella and her cleaver FROM HELL - I just wanted to turn her into a Fighter3/Cleric+

I still might go back and try that small PC group idea again - with a bard for my main PC who is looking for people with adventurous material that he can persuade into becoming heroes so he can write songs about their heroism later.

I generally prefer to use the point buy method, but then you discover that most of the Followers were rolled and have pretty obnoxiously high ability scores.

I am also tempted to recreate the various companions from the first Neverwinter Nights as a team - probably without the Lawful Evil Dwarf Monk tho. But Daelen the half-orc barbarian, Tommi the halfling rogue, Boddyknock the Gnome sorcerer, Linu the elf cleric and Sharwyn the human bard would be an interesting team - I'd probably put the two girls in charge.

And from what I understood there was a good reason it sucked as-is: Hasbro/WOTC pulled the game creator's license from them almost instantly after release - so they washed their hands of doing any fixes on the product they were forced to rush to production and Hasbro/WOTC was forced to do the repairs to the very flawed game in-house with people who didn't understand the code at all. When the creator said they were no longer responsible for things like paying back customers who wanted their money back after their license was pulled Hasbro/WOTC had to pay up, and they didn't want to pay everybody who bought the game - so in-house repairs in an attempt to coerce purchasers to keep the game.

I picked up Sword Coast Legends and finished the initial - somewhat short - campaign and am now trying to figure out how I'm supposed to proceed in Rage of Demons. And I also picked up Divinity: Original Sin expanded edition but I keep getting stuck on several fights I can't win and thus can't proceed beyond them. But I'm somewhat hopeful for Div: OS 2. The biggest thing missing from DS is the ability to play as a non-human - I can never understand fantasy worlds that have races other than humans but you can't play one. I've been asked in tabletop games why I never play a human and my response is "I get to pretend I'm a human EVERY DAY - when I roleplay I want to roleplay something else." And the advert for DS2 says you can play as a non-human of one of several races - so I want to see that. You get to create two characters who can only be human, and you can pick up 2 of the 4 possible companions - who are all human - how very boring.

Very nice character. I have two questions

First, may i use that picture as inspiration for a 3DRender. I will of course mention your work as inspiration.

Second, why does she wear those shackles on her legs, does that come from her background or is it just style ?

The pose actually works in 3d? Well, that's something! When I paint, I just "wing" the poses and hope for the best.

The shackles? She found them somewhere and decided, why the heck not. When the entire life is all about 1) trying to kill monsters, 2) getting killed by those monsters, 3) sitting next to a bonfire after resurrection, one starts having weird ideas.

It works, it was some tricky work, and it was impossible to get it exactly, but thatΒ΄s what art is for.

Oookay, the explanation is as weird as the idea, i like it, will try to remember it in my own RPG-Groups sometimes.

And thanks for the fav.

That is what a real spellcaster would use!

I'm not fully sure what's going to happen in DS3, but I believe the sorceress should be one of the bosses, a Lady of Cinder!

My DS3 protagonist will probably be an assassin.

I don't remember so I must copy an earlier comment that may or may not be true...
"the dress was from a tribal set I found in a chest somewhere, the gloves came from "the official witch set", the hood (not in the picture) belonged to an arrogant mage, and the handsome anklewear to a lunatic. I don't remember their names anymore..."

(Although I do remember now that "the lunatic" was Lost Sinner.)

I don't know why she has those anklet chains, maybe she is/was a slave? Or perhaps just decoration and serves only to make her feet the center of attention. Well she looks powerful with a hint of pure defiance and arrogance. Really dig the barefeet with her painted toes.
I am certain whoever she defeats, she will humiliate him or her to kiss her feet!!
