Description I held a contest where you had to take one of my fantasy OCs
<
and make her a superhero/villain in the modern world! The winner was

So here's Emeralda, the Mad Mistress Thief and Wonder Woman's eternal nemesis, displaying us her newest..."acquisition"." (Notice her trusty sidekick: a common mouse.)

Description, written by the winner:
"When I saw the picture of Emeralda wielding two swords, and tried to imagine what her superpowers would be, the first thing I thought was, "lightning-fast reflexes, able to deflect bullets with her swords." But then I realized that was too similar to Wonder Woman. So... I decided that that's the established universe she's in: She's Wonder Woman's arch-nemesis!

Emeralda the Mad, master thief. Her superpowers are lightning reflexes and the ability to escape from any bindings. She's the only person in the universe who's ever escaped from being tied up by Wonder Woman's magic lasso. She also has superior fighting ability and incredibly skill with defeating locks and security systems (although those are ordinary skills, not superpowers).

In her "civilian life" as Emily Pirate, she works as an accountant in a large brokerage firm, and as such she knows who has money and who doesn't, and therefore who's worth stealing from. Her boss is Diana Prince, whom Emily has figured out is actually Wonder Woman, although Diana hasn't figured out Emily's identity. Because of this, Emily is able to use her thieving skills to perform practical jokes on Diana, such as slipping a live frog into her iced tea. Diana lives in a state of constant irritation because of these pranks, and has no idea who's behind them.

No-one finds it at all strange that mild-mannered Emily Pirate lives in a dirigible "parked" above a vacant lot.

Appearance-wise, she looks pretty much the way you depict her, except she has ordinary ("human") ears -- she still claims to be half-elf, however. Her "Emily" disguise is nothing more than Emeralda with combed hair and normal clothes. In spite of this, nobody ever notices that they're the same person. The fact that Emeralda attacks from a dirigible and Emily lives in a dirigible also seems to have escaped everybody's attention.

Things she has stolen (recently): The second, third, fourth, and eighth largest diamonds in the world, the Petronas Towers, the mayor's car (twice), the country of Andorra (just to prove she could do it -- she gave it back the next day), the Olympic torch, and William Shatner's toupee (on live television). Also, at her day job she's stolen all of Diana Prince's office supplies, her parking space, and her boyfriend.

[Her costume is] bright and colorful -- she doesn't give a rat's ass about stealth. But she does wear a dark-colored cape with a hood she can wrap around herself to hide in the shadows.

She wears tights, knee-length boots, and a bikini top. With a bandana around her forehead. She wears a utility belt with lots of pouches she uses to carry all of her tools and equipment. At least one pouch contains a live mouse, in case she needs one in an emergency. And of course scabbards for her swords. Oh, and gloves, of course. She would need gloves, because fingerprints. She also wears what appear to be ordinary arm bands, but which actually contain more equipment, such as lockpicks."

This is great!

I take it the head-scarf is reversable and becomes the dark cape? Or maybe you dropped the dark cape idea altogether, because I now realize it was kind of a contradiction. She's not a stealthy kind of thief, she's a bold and daring pirate. Hiding in the shadows is for wimps and sissies.

She looks fantastic. The mouse looks great, also!

So, Wonder Woman is missing half her costume now? I guess if she changes back into Diana Prince she gets all her clothes back? At any rate, I'm sure those are going to be proudly hung on Emeralda's wall like a trophy, right next to Batman's pants. Oh, yeah, she did that, too.

At any rate, fantastic job. I'm glad I was able to inspire you.

Thank you.

Was very glad to be inspired. I really should've added Wonder Woman here too.

Would you add wonderwoman before or after half her costume was stolen?

I already loved this character.

And the fact that as you said, she has to work on being more intelligent since she has no real superpowers, really makes her come off as much more crafty character. As oppose to just trying to out brute Wonder Woman in a fist fight.

Also, being a Thief but not giving a shit about Stealth... Says a lot about her character.

She has superior reflexes and that probably means she also has above human endurance and speed, but her wits are certainly "superhuman". I seriously doubt she could outwit Batman... but she just might own a stolen batarang once. From his belt.

TheNightmareCooper In reply to SirTiefling [2013-12-11 04:53:10 +0000 UTC]

Well yeah, but he's BATMAN!

But I can see how she can use her wits to try and outmatch Wonder Woman, since entering a Fist Fight with her is pretty much kind of a suicide. Traps, gadgets, gear, stuff. Just make sure she has a lot of pockets.

To be honest, this is probably one of the best DC OC's I've seen in a while, and sadly there aren't that made memorable Wonder Woman Antagonists, especially as of late, so this character actually entering a real comic would really be pretty epic, and she isn't even connected to Greek Mythology kind of^^

Yeah. Wonder Woman can take it, but... poor Shatner.
