Description
I give you the winner of the latest poll, Samus Aran from Metroid.This took ages to do, and although her head is a little too big I'm pretty happy with this (Overall). The two colouring techniques work surprisingly well together I think. Paint and smudge for the background. Cell shaded for Samus Aran.
Parts of the pose and the layout of the cockpit is based on a sketch I found on Google, and it was a lifesaver because I can't stand doing backgrounds. So tedious and boring. But, it's something I know I need to improve on. :/

When it comes to pregnant Samus artwork, I've always wondered: who's the father? The only two people I can think of that she could be in a relationship with can't knock her up (Ian died in an explosion, Adam is a computer) ... Anthony, maybe?

No love for the human girls, like Miranda, Kelly, or Ash. even though Ash is kind of an asshole, her design in ME3 was a huge improvement

I'd vote for Liara within a heartbeat. Loved her in that game. Tali was special too. But yeah your right, the human girls are often overlooked.
I've been given I pretty good idea of a fighting game poll for the next one. Street Fighter vs Tekken, etc. Sounds cool to me.

Nice! I love how utterly confused she looks. I always thought it would be funny to draw a pregnant Samus, staring at her varia suit, trying to figure out how to get into it.

She always seems to find herself in these types of situations. I think she more than anyone has been the victim of expansion artists. Not that that's a bad thing. lol Besides, if she can roll up into a tiny ball, squeezing herself into her combat suit should be a cake walk.

Also, when I first started on DA, 8 years ago, Felicia from Dark Stalkers was exceptionally popular. I mean, Samus has been around and popular for a long time too, but I remember a flood of preggers Felicias and preggers Final Fantasy characters being real popular. But then again, that was also when Final Fantasy wasn't utter shit, like it's been since 2006.

Felicia is certainly another one that's been done a lot. Personally, I haven't seen too many Final Fantasy. Tifa has been a done a bit, but not so much the other leading ladies.

Yeah, back in the days before I knew of DeviantArt, there were a few independent pregnant art sites, and one of them had like almost EVERY female good character was drawn, from FF10 down, since FF10 had just come out like a year before. I'd have to say Samus has been consistently popular, Princess Peach, but a lot of waxed and waned. From like 2005-2008, the pregnant art community was pretty ok, then from like 2008-2013, a lot of stuff declined, popular people stopped, or more or less died out, or even tapered down to 1 deviation a year. It's a shame, guys like you are good for reviving things.

Yeah, imagine her in the background, facing the viewer, the back of the varia suit facing the view also, but in the foreground, like in the corner or something. Samus has a thought bubble that basically says "The fuck I'm fitting into that..." with like a bead of sweat rolling down her cheek lol. Too bad I didn't think of that when I drew Samus last year, dammit.
