Description
Japan- a silent giant that's spent the last 200 years trapped in thier own walls. The only entrance to this great fortress through Nagasaki at the far southern edge of Japan. Now however- we've breached a 2nd entrance in this great and ancient fortress. Hakodate Harbor. The only Columbian possession west of the Pacific. Great fortune has come out of the 2nd Wallace Expedition, not just from cracking open Japan, but from the riches discovered across the Pacific. The various kingdoms and tribes scattered across the Pacific are littered with the bounty of the sea, and all are ripe for the taking.

At home, the situation is different, the "3rd Revolution" and its scars are beginning to fade as the last homes, towns, and farms are rebuilt. With the roads and trails out west being fixed up and remade, the flow of people to and from has become easier and will become easier over the following decades. New groups, from Prussians, Franks, and even freed slaves, have begun to work thier magic on the Columbian south, New Orleans a hub- while not as grand as New York, certainly is just as shiny and light-filled.

The 1830's are to be an era of Columbian exceptionalism. We've conquered through the continent. And now we'll liberate the remainder.

You may notice something new in the Pacific- the massive triangle is all part of everything. Don't worry. But its a small diagram illustrating the influence of the three major Pacific powers- (Columbia- our noble republic) (Windsor-Oranje- the vengeful empire) (Japan- the sleeping giant). Over the course of the 19th century you will compete against the Windsors and the Japanese for domination of the Pacific islands through influence, proxy, and friendly backstabbing.

Right now the current situation stands as this.
Columbia holds no influence over the Pacific islands. Her presence barely felt in the ocean, save for Hakodate.
Japan holds Hokkaido deep within her sphere- but with the arrival of our ships, Hokkaido has become somewhat testy.
And Windsor holds much of the Southern pacific under her sway. Though it is a light influence held through force.

1. Aloha Hawaii- Hawaii is the largest and closest set of islands to us. She is rich in pearls and people. Swaying her over to our side would be beneficial to our cause. Not to mention she is a nice tropical paradise for our sailors to relax at after long voyages on the ocean.
(Hawaii will begin drifting towards us, don't expect the Windsor's to sit back and let you take the Pearl of the Pacific though.

2. Schmoozing on Samoa- Samoa is a nice island in the South Pacific. While not as big as Hawaii, its quite rich, which means it could be easier to liberate from unfortunate circumstances. And from there we could better convene with the Latins along the Andes and Australia.
(Samoa will be an easier coconut to break, though its also much closer to the Windsor-Oranje's possessions in the South Pacific.

3. Falling for Fiji- A rather large cluster of islands next door to New Zealand and Australia, from here we could strike out and disrupt vital functions and commerce between the Windsor's territories and make it easier for us to dominate the Pacific.
(Windsor-Oranje will not react lightly to this action. We may find ourselves in a proxy war over Fiji.)

4. Technically Indians?- The Maori are under the tight grip of the Windsor-Oranje and thier local petty tyrants. We must help remedy this action and support a few of our own friendly or anti-Windsor Maori clans. Besides, from Zealand its a hop skip and a jump over to Van Diemen's Land and New Georgia.
(The Windsor-Oranje may retaliate in full by overrunning the Kalahari.)

1. Arm the Metis- Those Loyalist asshats are attempting to step foot on Metis land and drive them away. As thier allies we must help defend them in any way we can. While many dislike the idea of marching back to war, a few of the more shifty types have argued to help supply the Metis.
(The Metis will be armed with proud Columbian weaponry- driving the Loyalists back. Though the Canucks may throw a huge hissyfit about it and will be mobilized for a while longer.)

2. Baja Blast- The Baja Peninsula is an uncontrollable frontier with barely anybody to keep it in check. It sounds like our kinda deal! If we could send in a few of the veteran settlers from California down south we could rile up and stir the Baja from an uncontrollable frontier- into a stepping stone into Mexico's heartland.
(Mexico will be pissed for reasons we can't comprehend. They may even declare war if it gets out of hand- accusing us of filibustering- the nerve.)

3. Expand Representation- If we are to be more democratic, we must expand the representation of our states. The House must be doubled in size, and the Senate shall jump from 2 to 3 Senators per state. Columbia must be representative of her people for we are a nation of many.
(The people will absolutely love this move, and may allow for more diverse politicking in the future.)

4. Fortify the Coast- Bourbon Mexico is on a warpath down Central America. First Honduras, soon Salvador, Nicaragua, and eventually our territory in the Miskito. Its clear thier what thier ambitions are. Lets break it to them that they won't be able to go further than we allow.
(The Miskito Coast will be fortified. Should Mexico attempt to attack it, it'll be stumped- though it won't be able to hold forever.)

5. Further Settling South- Louisiana and West Florida have experienced a small but noticeable boon by taking in and incorporating the "Pancrilo", the Columbian South has become a new economic staple of our nation.

6. Shore up Southern Sahel- The Kalahari is a frontier full of untapped land, let us give these men and women thier dream- a piece of the Earth they can call thier own. Besides, it'll help the small population in the area fight off native tribes and Windsor attacks.
