Description I enjoy sable antelope, white, and deep shadows. And being different.
I forget what I had to say on its anthromorphic anatomy [new word]. Something about how an ungulate would not have the anatomy to keep itself balanced as a biped. It would require changes to the hind feet to accomplish such a feat. If you zoom in, you will notice some of my changes, namely the feet are a bit human like. I enlarged the 'ball' of the foot to produce a heel like pad it could walk on. Normally this 'ball' wouldnt have anything to do with the ground, being an ankle... though by bone structure it is actually a knuckle. Ungulata walk on the very tips of their toes, protected by a horny nail. Imagine walking around using only your index fingers and toes. You dont really stop to think of all the work your numerous toes do to keep you upright and very steady.
I didnt intend to have this make you think.

Ive also changed the internal structure of the toes.. but thats totally not apparent.

Anywhos.. the porportions are a bit hyrbidized between quadroped and human. Notice the long hands.
And its not really a sabel antelope, but the species comes to mind. This individual has two sets of horns.

Made a year ago now. Only scanned it recently. I rather like it despite the little things.

Edit Feb 2006, same deal as the other reuploads. Nicer jpegs.

Very, very nice! Though you did make a common mistake most people do when drawing Sables- you put the ridge lines of the horns all the way up to the tip. All antelope are born with 'spike' horns. These are small smooth points that grow to be the tip of the horn. In the case of the sable the horn is about 3/4 ridged and 1/4 un-ridged. Another Hippotragus antelope and close sable cousin, the Gemsbok oryx, actually has about 2/3 ridged and 1/3 unridged. It varies by species and a little bit by induvidual.

Beautiful pic though! Always wonderful to see something of a sable or inspired by them.

It's really cool! It looks very wise and understanding, I think. The deep shadows and overall color give it a penant and almost grievous overtone as well. Well done!

@o@ That's sooo amazing! I LOVE how you've done the shading for this! @__@ The colours are sooo beautiful. It has a really 3D look to it but it also has a nice 2D look, also @_@ The colours are really, really nicely put together with how they are whitish and bluish and everything. Nyaah~~ And what a beautiful proportion! >w< I looove how you've done the staff, also @_@

Ugh... I think the lighting and coloring are brilliant... Not to mention the anatomy...and the combinations you made... It's the little things that matter.

Wonderful textures, as usuall. I envy.
Interesting choice of anatomical structure. Not quite humanoid and not quite animal.
Is it just me... or is all of your work like... blue?
