This is my entry for the "May/June Hair Colouring Competition" run by . The original, amazing lineart can be found here: [link] and the contest details are here: [link]
(And if you're a colourist you should totally enter, it's a fantastically fun picture to work with!)
I printed out the lineart onto A4 card, and coloured it with graphite pencils and gel pens. I usually work on A3 so it was a challenge doing something so detailed on such a small scale!
I wanted to carry on with the Milky Way theme in the original lineart, so I made her dress like the sun and clouds of a sunset, and the platform she's on as the Earth. The background swirls are my own addition since I couldn't think of another way to do the scenery. I used gel pens for the stars and for her necklace/bracelet.
Hope you like it! I'm looking forward to seeing the other entries, too!

I used to use a lot of acrylics; it's perfectly possibly, but you do have to work very quickly to blend them before they dry!

I love your colour combination! Your technique is splendid. My favourite part is her dress, it looks like it's glowing.
I have a question (if you don't mind answering). Did your scanner kill your colours? When I scanned mine, it looked really really bad...

My scanner is generally okay, although I do have to spent 10-20 minutes in photoshop doing the levels and curves etc. If you look at this: [link] The bottom image is closer to the colours I use; the ones above it were just scanned and not played with. So yeah, they get muted.

Yeah, it's fine traditional... it's just a little fiddly, especially if you do it A4 size.
