Description 16 Jan 1941 French troops launched a successful counterattack against Thai troops at the villages of Yang Dang Khum and Phum Preav in Cambodia, French Indochina, but poor intelligence forced the French to back off from any territory gained. The Thais were unable to pursue the retreating French, as their forward tanks were kept in check by the guns of the French Foreign Legion.

Interesting. Usually most history books or documentaries I've seen don't really talk about this. From what I thought after Germany conquered France in June 1940, it immobilized the French troops in Asia allowing the Japanese to come in and take over French Indochina later taking Thailand.
