I see your new username! It confused me at first.

It really ends then... I'm so sad no more movies are coming!
Hahaha, at least I kept my old icon.

This is amazing! Would you mind sharing where you downloaded these custom brushes?

Thanks! Actually, by 'custom' I mean that literally. I made them.

That's awesome! Ummm... I guess I'll just be brave and ask "willing to share?" I'm impressed by the amount of detail and texture of this painting! I'm always looking for new brushes to try.

Actually, I follow a "you should make your own brushes" policy, and I'll share why:
Firstly, it'll give you a thorough understanding of the brush in question. You'll know how and why it works, which will allow you to put it to far better use. You can then tweak it to specific uses very easily, as well. It will also give you an unmatched familiarity and comfort with the brushes. The other side of that is that if you're practiced at brush creation, you can whip out specialized brushes on the fly, like the texture I used on the lighter sections of Harry's coat. Or whatever that is. Not a good brush at all, but it was quite a quick one. If you're using others' brushes, you don't have that freedom. Finally, brushes can be absolutely critical to certain styles, which would mean that you would be copying my style, to a degree. It's so much better if you build your own!
I can, however, do a brush tutorial sometime, if you'd like. Building brushes is actually fun!

I've only been painting in Photoshop CS5 for a few months now and could use all the help I can find. You can never learn enough is what I believe. So, while I understand your reluctance to share your brushes but rather help teach how to create your own- I would love a tutorial! Thank you!

I'll record a video sometime showing my brushes and how they work, then!

So, what's your skin brush like?
π: 0 β©: 1
SkarValidus In reply to Songwind [2011-10-18 18:51:53 +0000 UTC]
I've got a couple. One is just my standard hard triangle with a texture mask. You can see it in action on the large areas, gracefully blending away, haha. Another is a smaller one that provides some harsher and more localized pricks, which you can see on the jaw, the facial hair, brow, and under the eyes. I also used a skin pore texture sparingly around the eyes and I think on the forehead. How does the skin look?
