CHEERS, and !!!!!HERE'S FOR YOU, Samwise Gamgee looking with hope at the skies as he travels towrds the dark land of Mordor.
I had wanted to give you two this one forholidys, but delays didn't lallow me on time.
NOW IS LATE, BUT BETTER THAN NEVER, ISN'T IT?
Soon, all those who expected a drawn holiday gift for me, keep alert! THEY WILL ARRIVE....

Nice drawing of one of my fave LOTR characters.

The funniest thing is I saw that version SO long ago...and didn't pay all enough attention to it...This is what Sam looks like in my head when I read LOTR ^^
It is funny how much I made him look like extracted from the Bakshi rotoscoped version when I barely can remember how everyone looked there1 XD
Thanks so much for enjoying this one...and for telling me 'bout bakshi version, you confirmed what many others mention, and I'll make sure to re-watch it and see how alike my Sam is to Bakshi's one!
Maybe that image for him stayed in my brain subconsciously, after I saw it as a kid...It is possible!

Even if I truly adore her and I could draw her, I sadly don't have enough time for now---
I am flooded with work as an artisan I am, and my time to induge in my drawing hobby is sadly very short!
I am devoting it entirely to my project with skeksis due to that lack of time...currently I am struggling with tons of still unfinished Ask comics , a series of comics of my own, loose drawings and color charts...

In fact, with hobbits and Gollum/Sméagol especially, I tend to make my own renditions of how I see them in my head rather than copy them from their respective movie actors...my Frodo and Sméagol look rather simmilar to the film versions though, but if you spy my gallery, there's a folder named "my oldest drawing" which contains art from 1990...showing how I imagines Sméagol, Sam and Frodo ^^...

You have an impressive amount of drawings in your gallery already. Most impressive.
The 1991 drawing is fun. And rather 'prophetic' of how Gollum would get pictured in the movies, as it turned out to be. If Jackson really got his idea from you, I don't know. People keep telling me that the animated version of LotR by Ralph Bakshi was rather influential when it comes to that. I got it on DVD in the meantime, but I have yet to watch it.
I think that the movie representations of the various characters is fantastically well done and after having seen them it has maybe become difficult to picture them differently than how they were in the movies. But still, if you manage to, I think that Sam of yours is really spot on too. I really could be a very valid alternative to the movie version ...

I have spent all my life drawing, since my motricity started to allow me hold things at 1-and-something yr old or so... One of the first things I ever grabbed at, according to my mom, was a rollerball pen...I struck it on a nearby book (which sadly still has that scraped mark) and then I seemed enthralled by being able to leave "marks"...
I never stopped either scribbling or drawings ever since... XD
OH YES!
I was mesmerized by Gollum's movie version when I first watched in in theater!
I had seen many "green froglike" versions of him at other animated versions and such...and I always pictured him mentally as "deranged but still a hobbit" so I made him a small old man, with a childish face (because he struck me as still being chidish and never having grown up eotionally, but stayed stuck in his pre-tweens" only that destroyed by the ring's influence...)
So there you got him. A small childlike-faced pale, wrinkly, emaciated old hobbit...
MUCH like Peter Jackson's version of him!
I don't think the movie one had anything to do with mie though, because here and when I posted this up wa the first time anyone truly saw those drawings out of myself or my family!
It's impossibe anyone had seen them and told Jacson, therefore! ^^
Heheh my Sam is just how I always mentally "saw" him...I don't knpw how, but I still see the characters more as I always saw them in my head than as exact movie versions!
Probably because I read LOTR nd the hobbit at my 8 yrs old...many decades before the movie ws even thought to be filmed! ^^ *I AM OLDDDD..I am 33 now...*

I recognize some of that story in my own. My sister and I played "comic magazine artists" a lot of the time when we were young. So, no, the first thing I grabbed was not likely to be a pencil or pen, but I did a whole lot of drawing as a kid nevertheless. Then came a pause of about 15 to 20 years and now my wife and I subscribed to art class in our local Art academy. We're in our third year in the meantime ...
You know what this means, right? If you are OLDDDD, then I'm OLDDDDERRRRR. I just hit 42 last january ...

Well, it is a tad exceptional, I like to think. Not the traditional stuff like police man, pilot of fire fighter. The real reason for it all was a comic artist called André Franquin. He created a comic character called Gaston Lagaffe or Guust Flater (depending on where you live in Belgium in French or Flemish) who worked for the Belgian comic magazine "Spirou" or "Robbedoes". He basically was a kind of hippie who saw his working environment as a big playground. The main things he did at work were inventing the weirdest machines, chemistry, cooking and taking naps in impossible hide-outs. There was so much imagination in that comic that I wanted to be part of it as a kid. I still love that comic today and the artist, André Franquin, is still my big shining example of Greatness. Amen.
We oldtimers should stick together. I just hit that "watch" button on your profile. Your stuff is good and I'm a fan of Henson's world just as much as I'm a Tolkien buff, so what else could I do? ...

I have to go look something up for another friend of mine, so I'll be doing some digging around within that computer... I think I can find it... XD (I have 4 computers)
I tend to hold onto old things... in fact the one that has the book on it STILL I actually originally got in 2005... and I'm mainly just using it to store old stuff... actually it's getting pretty full and since I just got ANOTHER Ext. HD... art files are just so huge... well, I got a discount... thanks ebay. 2TB for the price of 1... literally... so I need to get into that computer anyway.
Also I think I'm finally almost completely over my cold. Although the dry weather is NOT helping... anyway, point being I think I'll have a little time to find that file.
