Heh chums is such a funny word
Another Merry and Pippin fan art. I'm going to use this in my art project for school. It's on Alan Lee's work and after doing some copies of his work and some screen shots, I've done some original work 
I should have used more reference for their faces but I don't suppose there's any need for them to look like the actors 
I painted the bg in watercolours than used acrylics thinly so I could use watercolour pencils over it. I can't find any prisma pencils but watercolour pencils blend and cover well. I had the idea of trying this from professional illustrators who use air brushed acrylic as a base colour then build up detail with prisma pencils
I had to improvise a little though...

Awesome! I adore these to fine hobbits! I named my rats after them! Hehee. I love Pippin's grin! It is adorable! The entire pic is wonderful! I love the poses of both hobbits and I think that you are the best at drawing them!

Really sweet. I love how you drew them ... all short and such. (because they simply don't look quite Hobbit-like-short in the movies, though they look great) The colours are really nice ... brownish in all of them. Your shading has a really cool style to it! And I love the lineless, rather soft edges you gave them ... the simple, linear background is an interesting contrast. It looks really good!!

The coloring for this is gorgeous. I love the juxtaposition of the darker, more lealistic against the soft stylized watercolor....
and they're such cute little hobbitses :aaw: And it doesn't really matter if they match the actors, because the actors are one of many representations of each.
