((I know I said I'd do a comic page next, but I need to, uh, make some minor changes after recent events))Man, that last Handplates update was just... wow. Didn't expect it to happen like that but at least it was quick.
*sigh* I really wish Gaster had gotten a chance to see the surface again. I love that skele.

As if this whole business wasn't already sad enough, it hadn't even crossed my mind that now he'll never get to see the surface again like all the other monsters do, when he probably wanted to so badly.
It's a nice picture though, in a bittersweet way.

I really like this drawing.
Especially the fact that his expression does not give any indication on his reaction to the rain.
Gosh, I want to save this Skeleton so badly... I'm curious what zarla has in store for the story from here on out.
I think my favourite parts about this drawing are the coloring of the scarf (it looks so sky-like and nice) and the water spray effect on Gasters hand.
But... what is he doing with that umbrella of his? XD It looks very uncomfortable to hold it like this so that it rests on the opposite shoulder of the arm he's holding it with.

I love the idea of handplates Gaster making it to the surface. Completely betrays the purpose of a lot of the story, but if he went mercy and stuck it out there would be a LOT of complicated emotions to deal with lol. But after all the guilt from causing so much suffering for nothing, the lingering resentment toward humans, the feelings of inadequacy and the feeling he doesn't deserve it...there would be some joy and fondness I think. Buried waaaaaay under all the angst lol. The elusive happy Gaster :3
I love him in the rain too. It feels more like his true element than the sun. Most envisionings of monsters making it to the surface involve seeing the sun again, but rain and even the moon are also great things they don't have underground. Such a lovely image <3

Honestly, I'm not sure it would betray the purpose of the story. I don't think Gaster was, at any point, past the point of saving - in fact, he showed that he was capable of change just before Sans decided to act on impulse and throw him (as well as himself) into the core. If anything, I think Sans made a big mistake by actually sticking by Gaster's 'Kill or be killed' mentality. But I guess he was too freaked out to think straight. : (
I dread to think the pain poor Asgore and Alphys would have to endure if Gaster chose Mercy towards the end of the main timeline/ somehow made it back from the... void, I guess? It wouldn't be easy and it would take a long time to recover from the trauma for everyone involved, but hey... Gaster has Papy, so there's hope. And something about this scenario just seems so, so intriguing to me.
Gloomy, colder colors do suit him pretty well, don't they? Also I read somewhere on Zarla's gallery that Gaster loves umbrellas, no way could I pass up on an opportunity to draw that, lol. I'm really glad you like the picture!
