Description Her English name has just been confirmed as Bianca. This happened just as I was working on a pic of her. Personally I think that her US name really suits her.

Before I go into critiquing your actual drawing, I believe that I should discuss the use of realistic backgrounds and drawings first. If you put a drawing against the realistic background, you have to make the color scheme and shading match. You attempted it here, but you didn't quite do it. The picture is very dim and makes the drawing stand out more, which isn't necessarily a good thing. If you're going to use a realistic background it should match with your drawing and not be so cut and paste. But my recommendation is just to learn how to draw the sort of backgrounds you want. It looks better, it fits with your drawing and everything looks more in place.

Moving on to your drawing, its decent. There are some issues on the anatomy, specifically with the neck and arms. You drew a neck, but its barely there. Its not a real neck in the terms that you there is too much of a smooth transition from neck to collarbone. You've made it too thick and despite the size of the head, if should be a little bit longer. The arms are way too thin for the way you drew the character. This happen because of way you drew the shoulders, which are also kind of out of proportion, where in lies the problem.

Because this is a stylized drawing in an anime type style, discussing proportion is difficult. Since the head is usually big, you can't use the rule for standard proportions of the human body. Instead, you would have to "eyeball" it in a sort of way. One thing to do is use a photo reference and try to apply the proportions to the stylized picture. The best way is to study realistic proportions and then compare these to anime proportions. When you're watching anime/looking at pictures of anime/reading manga, pay attention to how the artists deal with proportions, specifically professional anime/manga artists. Try to do realism with a realistic proportion study and make notes of what happens when the proportions are exaggerated in anime.

As far the picture goes, the arms could be thicker and posed more naturally, as they just seem to hang unnaturally. The best way to practice natural poses in a portrait drawing is to draw a large portion of the body and then crop it digitally. Also, you should make a habit of inking traditionally before try it digitally. You can do this by just using a pencil and playing around with levels and brightness/contrast adjustments.

Last, but not least, the shading. In my opinion, you should stick to cell shading when it comes to this type of anime style. To me, it just fits better, looks nicer, and its cleaner. However, this is just my opinion. I don't know if you used the burn tool, but I hope you didn't. Whether its cell shading or soft shading, you always use another color to shade. The burn tool and dodge tool should only be used with delicate care and maybe to push lightness and darkness, but never the bulk of shading. Also, your light source is confusing in this drawing. I think I can see it when I see the top of the drawing, but you confuse it when you get the the bottom of the drawing. It looks as if you have two light sources on the arm. You should concentrate on the light coming from one direction. Since your light source is on the picture's right (your left while you look at it), the left arm and from the bottom left side of picture should fade from dark to light into the top right corner of the picture.

This was a nice attempt and good luck in your future artistic endeavors. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

An adorable picture here. The background looks more hand painted than hand drawn, but even if that is true, then the pasting of the art over the painting is exceptionally done!

I was drawn to the big smile of Bianca, myself. (I'm betting she's going to be the resident girl member of the trio, I haven't read anything new in a while).

The shading is also exceptional, especially the darker area of the hair, and her lower shirt. The shading on ONE of the sleeves of the shirt is a bit off to me, but that may just be me.

Anyway, an adorable and wonderful picture.

The background looks pretty good (in hopes that it was really drawn). Bianca however looks great. The shading was spectacular, and as a fan of Pokemon, strikingly similar to her actual design. I applaud that you attempted to make it resemble the actual design and not give her your own style. That was really impressive. It's art like this that makes me even more excited for the new games that are coming out in American lands in March.

The good good things are trying to repose, but you won't let that happen. And that's why this piece is so lovable. Bravo Sketchy. Bravo to the upteenth power

The hands are thin, shes missing her Brachioradialis muscle, her medial epicondyle, and biceps brachii muscles are all gone. Where is the light coming from? Wheres the reflex shine? Are those lines above her eyes her lids? Eye brows?

Well you have to know these muscles, when you're drawing the human body (even in anime)
