If you don't know how something works or what it is, don't make up the meaning for it, look it up, first.

Assumptions are not only a clear indicator of laziness, but also, a way to show that you value more your personal perception of someone of something, that you're willing to spread false information online through your ignorance and lack of common sense.

If you're not sure, ask, if you can't ask, look it up. People often believe anything they see or read, because looking for actual and plausible information is too much work sometimes. But, you have to have at least a bit of personal accountability for what you do, because, there are actual people who can face the consequences for your misinformed comments.

Try to be part of the few who can exercise politeness, poise and basic manners when facing certain subjects. It's ok not to know everything, but to go after people or certain subjects for something you made up in your mind is frankly the worst possible way you can approach any situation. Find context, be reasonable and empathetic, give the benefit of the doubt, and if all of that leads to a negative perception, at least, now you know the full context to come to that conclusion.

I know it might sound cheesy, but, mistakes happen, you're never gonna be 100% right in people's eyes, but, please, be considerate. The world already has enough hatred and misinformation to spread, don't be another one adding to that.
