"Daddy, you're still pink. Are you suuuure you're not sick?"

Verdigris bit back a sigh as he adjusted the bread basket and the freshly-pressed scarf in his arms. This was perhaps the fifth time Cosmo had asked that question. He knew she was just worried (And perhaps still skeptical about going somewhere brand new for dinner), but it was hard to answer her when he really didn't know the answer to the question himself.

Verdigris was no stranger to throwaway romance- he had dabbled in plenty until Cosmo came along. That was actually how she came about, a final fling with a lovely woman named Lucy. Verdigris had quickly realized that night that he was far more swayed by men than he had originally thought, denying her further advances after that night. A teal egg frighteningly similar to him arrived at the Rattle's Rest not long after. He gave up one night flings after she was born, as it killed the mood immensely when a newborn kept you up most of the night.

Fatherhood had come shakily to Verdigris. He never wanted to do Cosmo wrong, it wasn't her fault that she wound up with him. And he wouldn't deny that, even with Lucy's neon green eyes and splashes of royal purple, she looked so much like him. She acted so much like him. He couldn't bear to give her up, even if he knew it was logically wiser to. But he was certain from day one that he was going to break her somehow (he didn't exactly have a good example to mimic). Fortunately she seemed well-adjusted so far, got good grades in school, stood up for herself, the works. He was definitely proud.

Such a wildly different ballgame to Quincie.

Don't get him wrong, he was incredibly fond of the little fuzzball. His passion excited him, his neverending desire to learn and improve his craft. His energy was a lot to keep up with at times and he seemed a little more immature than Cosmo (who, he had learned from Alice during the last parent-teacher conference, was rather intelligent for her age. She didn't always use this intelligence for good, but eh, details).

Levi was astoundingly patient, both with Quincie and Cosmo. Both of these wynglings required a different form of patience, and Levi seemed to have both. Watching him being so kind to his daughter had made some odd emotion in his chest bloom. She had Ash, yes, and he was perfectly lovely towards her. But other than him and Verdigris himself, she really didn't have an adult in her life. He knew Cosmo could be difficult, and yet Levi had been so kind to her.

Verdigris knew he could be so difficult, and Levi had done the same.

He would never go for a wyngro like-

WHAM!

Verdigris yelped as he jerked backwards and grabbed his nose, cracking open an eye to see the door in front of him.

Cosmo bust out laughing "Daddy! You knock with your hand, not your face!"

"I know, starshine." Verdigris's glands lit up as he chilled his body to hopefully bring the swelling down, "I wanted to see if you would catch my mistake."

The door opened before Cosmo could respond. Levi's eyes were wide, he definitely heard that thud. "Verdigris! Are you alright, you look flustered!"

"Fine, fine, my fretting friend." Verdigris' smirk was on display before Levi could blink, "Tripped over one of your path stones is all. I do believe one has raised."

"I'm really sorry about that."

"Ah, don't be, it most likely raised with the rain. Much like how this bread raised in the oven." Verdigris held the basket out, internally relieved as Levi shot him a grateful expression and took it, "And your scarf, of course. Terribly sorry for keeping it from you for so long."

"No need to be sorry, thank you so much for keeping it for me! Quincie hates baths with a passion, it would have gotten wet here."

"VER!" As if on cue, Quincie came pelting into the entryway, bouncing excitedly after skidding to the stop at Levi's side, "You're really here!"

"Of course I am, fluff, would I lie to you?" Verdigris patted Quincie on the head with his tail tip, exciting the boy further.

Cosmo raised an eyebrow at Quincie, who would be her playmate that evening. A rather rowdy playmate. Quincie didn't seem swayed by her hesitation, his tail going a mile a minute. "Hi Cosmo! Do you wanna play with my toys? Or make clothes? Or play outside? Or-"

Verdigris swallowed as he followed Levi to the kitchen to deposit the bread. Chii, he hoped this went well.

THIS IS SO LATE BUT STARTING SCHOOL HAS MADE STUFF SLOWER, SORRY ABOUT THAT

Quincie's meant to be jumping by the way, he hasn't turned into the magical floating wyngling that Chii has been longing for.

AHHHHH IT IS HERE.  SO CUTE.
You still draw quin so dam well, he looks. Exactly how I'd imagine him to with Verdi on his doorstep
(however his actually shy till he gets to know someone, then his pretty up in their face. So he'd be hesitant to Cosmo. Don't sweat however it's a super common mistake as I pretty well draw him hypo full on 247 XD)

But.  VERDI YOUR PRECIOUS FACE!!! :w:
Smooth recovery however
