Description Rhysand didn't expect anything crazy to happen that day. Get up, eat, run around, baby-doll eyes his way to some lunch, run around some more, be back at the nook for dinner, nightly rooftop jumping, and then bed. Nothing unusual. He had just finished the first two steps of his daily routine and was heading out when he noticed a red wyngling waiting impatiently by the door. He looked incredibly excited for whatever he was waiting for. Rhys was just going to walk past him until the red wyngling spotted him.

His eyes lit up and he darted over to him. Rhysand braced himself, blinking when the wyngling stopped in front of him, looking at him like he was offering him a kidney. "You're Rhysand, right? No surname?" The red wyngling asks, chipper.

"Uh..." Rhysand looked around before deciding to humor this kid, "Yeah?"

The red wyngling practically squealed before spinning around in his glee and, to Rhysand's astonishment, starting a song.

“My name is Basilton Bartholomew,
But you can call me Bazzy!
I’ve seen those tricks and flips you do,
I think they’re super snazzy!

I have a proposition just for you,
An offer that you can’t refuse!
Cause kid, I’d like to hire you for my-!”

"Wait wait wait," Rhysand held up a hand, incredulous, "You want me to run away with you and join the circus?"

"I don't want you to run away to the circus, I want you to help me make the circus!" The red wyngling, Bazzy, exclaimed, "Kids around here know me as being quite the entertainer, so I thought to myself and I said 'Y'know what Basilton? Why just stick to the Nook?' I wanna make the whole town smile, and what better way to do that than with a circus?"

"That's all good I think, but why are you coming to me with this?" Rhysand tilted his head, still not fully comprehending what was happening.

"I was wandering the town all on my lonesome you see, trying to think of the perfect first act for my show! A bunch of kids came along once I started my blabbering about it, but show business puts pressure on you, y'know? I need a tough egg with a brilliant talent! And that's when I saw you, leaping between the rooftops with such a masterful twist, it brought stars to my eyes! That's when I knew that I had to seek you out! If I never asked you to be my first acrobat, I know I'd regret it for the rest of my days!"

Rhysand blinked. His jumping around had impressed someone? That was definitely different, usually when someone caught him he just received a chorus of 'Get down from there!' and 'You're gonna hurt yourself!'. "What do you mean by 'acrobat'? What is that?"

"You've never heard of an acrobat? An acrobat is a gro who can move their body in all sorts of ways! They can flip through the air, do handstands and poses, roll, leap through rings, all sorts of stuff! I think you'd be best in the air though, if you ask for my wannabe-professional opinion!" Bazzy grinned.

Rhysand loved the sound of that and moved to ask more before his spine rubbed funnily against his exposed spine. It sent a tingle through his legs, but nothing that hurt. He usually didn't care about his wrybone and what people thought about it, but if Bazzy let him join this circus and kicked him out later because of it? He would definitely care then. "I appreciate your offer, but I can't with my-"

"Wrybone?" Bazzy tilted his head with a smile.

Rhysand instinctively shifted so that his cape would cover more of his spine. "How did you...?"

"Don't think I haven't seen you around before, Rhysand! And that cape ain't glued to your back! But don't worry, I don't go blurting it out!" Bazzy piped, "And I don't care about the wrybone, and I know you don't either! You wouldn't be jumping over alleyways if you did! Am I right, or am I right?"

"You're... right." Rhysand looked stunned and Bazzy didn't miss the expression, giggling at the sight. "Everyone else loses their head when they see my spine."

"And I don't plan on doing that unless you want me too! I just don't want you rolling on the ground and hurting yourself on purpose." Bazzy winks "Just do what you're good at, and that's pretending you can fly!"

Rhysand's mind was racing with the possibilities of what Bazzy was offering him. This conversation had started out so weird, but the more he thought about it, the more he was digging the idea. No more hiding. He could feel the breeze on his face and feel the air lift him and be celebrated for it. At least by Bazzy, who was moving to fill the silence with more singing.

“My name is Basilton Bartholomew,
But you can call me Bazzy!
I’ve seen what you've been going through,
How do you stay so classy?

Lets make this circus, you and me,
An act nobody can believe,
Those smiling faces in that sea,
Of endless possibility!

So what do you say kid? Where will this go?
Are you gonna say yes or are you gonna say no?
Don't leave me hanging, I've gotta know~!

Will you be the acrobat in my sho-oooow~?”

Bazzy finished his number with outstretched arms in a concluding pose and Rhysand grinned, reaching out and grabbing it to shake.

"I accept your offer."
