When Mikael was about twenty years old, he had already kept a few items from his mother that was given by grandmother when he was younger. Those items were the start of his obsession. He traveled farther to find the perfect, small, old home to live in by himself. He found one suburban house that was unlike any other homes side-by-side. It's over one hundred years old, dull and gloomy, and under-maintained. The "For Sale" sign was rotting. He talked to the landlord about its functions.

Landlord| Yes, electricity, water pipes, signals--they're all okay.
Mikael| So, any reason for this lovely home to be abandoned for so long? Bug infestation? Rat infestation? Haunting spirits?
Landlord| Ah--yeah. [Nervous laughs] There was an aggressive--
Mikael| I'll take it.
Landlord| [Raised Brows] Are you sure? People got scratched and sick--
Mikael| I've been traveling for weeks. I've been restless searching for a better home. I'd live in any house at this point.
Landlord| [Tightens lips] . . . Mhm . . . alright. [Shakes Mikael's hand] It's nice negotiating with you. [Pats his back] Take care.

To this day, he's been hoarding many, many things that are as old as the 1930s/1940s. Isolating himself most of the time. Always learning as pass-times. They were bought from pawn shops, yard sales, cheap antiques shops, even vintage give-aways for his birthday from the people who works in the same restaurant. It was easier for the oldest workers to find him a gift. He received a broken typewriter, which he knew how to fix it.

His house is like a trip to the past. Twenty years of redecorating, rebuilding, and collecting to make the perfect vintage home. The kitchen stove, cupboards, and tables are replaced. Wallpapers, curtains, and windows, too. There are vinyl record players, broken vintage TV, and a vintage radio which he somehow rewired it to play today's jazz radio. The colours are still dull, but they're still beautiful.

His basement, however, is the only place that's up-to-date on the inside. He never invited any visitors before, and even if he did, he'll never let them enter his basement. He buried the outside basement door which is covered in grass now. He disguised the basement window to look like some sort of boiler room's vent. He never mentions it at all. People were convinced he never had a basement.
It is a quiet place to practice to be a chemist, artist, and a Physician.

I think I'm starting to finally draw my babies closer to what I thought they'd look like. If only I knew how to architect. I need to learn how to render 3D for a better feel of the room in the future. It might be easier to draw on, too. Reply to y'all later~ ಥwಥ
P.S. Yes, he grew a 'stache now. So gorgeous~
