This is the lilo screen I made up for my server. I just love it, don't you?The Win2k is just fictional, I only have Debian on my old notebook-server.

with root permissions open /etc/lilo.conf. There you will find anything you need.
For the picture you have to make a 256 colors bitmap. Don't really remember if 800x600 or 640x480, but you can easily find out by opening the boot image currently used by lilo.
one of the things you have to declare:
install=bmp
bitmap=<
And then there are all the other settings you can adjust, but for that I'd stick to a RTFM.
