Description USS Clamagore (SS-343) Diesel-electric fleet submarine commissioned June 1945. Operated out of east coast ports for 30 years. Towed to Patriots Point in 1981.
As can be seen in close-up, outer hull is in poor condition and needs repair. Shark fin-like protrusions are sensors.
Castle Pinckney is in the far distance. Fort Sumter is out of sight to the left.
Unfortunately, Clamagore was scrapped in 2022.

A massive rebuilt of the sail and hull from its WWII look.

That was known as a GUPPY conversion (Greater Underwater Propulsion Power) that was performed on US subs after WWII.
Guns and railings were removed, the conning tower, periscopes and schnorkels were enclosed in a streamlined metal and fiberglass sail, and higher capacity batteries were installed.
