Urgh, I'm suffering from a fever but still went to school and finally finished this.

The scanner ate this totally! The yellow area has somehow vanished from the edges and somehow everything looks weird... Except colors. For the first time ever the colors look pretty much the same as in the original. Or maybe this is more yellow when the other one is redish..? Dunno.

I think the sketch version had some kind of background, but after lining I didn't remember what it was supposed to be like. So once again there's just phoenix with disturbingly white bg. T__T

It could never fly.

Omg I love it! The two plumes at the base of the tail are something I've never seen before in phoenixes, and the idea that the long tail is smoky in nature instead of feathery. The wings look almost like a small albatross?

And then on top of that, the pose and colors! Bravo!

Yeah, the idea for the decorative tail came from one other artist's work. He/She didn't really know anything about feathers so the tail looked a bit like that. : D Too bad I didn't find that artwork later on.
And yeah the wings really do look like that! :'D My perspective fails so bad that they look long and slim.

It's okay, there are not many albatross-winged phoenixes anyway. Everybody (myself included) seems to default to hawk-ish wings, which are cool and all, but still.

Yeah, I know what you mean. : D Wings from birds like hawks and ravens are very commonly seen, but something like terns or swallows are more rarely used. I personally like the wings of fregate birds. [link]

A frigatebird-based phoenix would be a thing to behold. I think I will need to try this now!
