What I thought was interesting about Bumblebee's character in Transformers Prime is how expressive he could be without being able to verbalize like the rest of the Autobots; I also liked that they didn't resort to using his radio to speak like was done in the live action movies. Not that it was a bad idea for the movies, though.

Oh I agree 100% it created a deeper back story for him with out having a voice. I think if it would have continued we would have learned more about Raff and his ability to be able to understand bee. Maybe some thing like how Sari was in Transformers Animated or perhaps he was a experiment from mech. I don't know just thinking out side the box.
