So who hasn't done anything in Photoshop in forever? Who suddenly got inspired by Frou Frou? Who needed to do Absolute Art anyway?Obvious answer.
Anyway. YES. Verran! I ment to draw Mael today, but then got this idea in my mind and then Mael suddenly seemed out of place. That and "Holding Out for a Hero" seems more main character-esque, though Mael's going to play major parts in the story. >D
So, I know the anatomy is a little wierd but there are a lot of things in this I like a lot anyway. The concept made me happy and so did the linework that took over an hour. AND THE COLORING CAME OUT OF NOWHERE. I just hope I can do it again. x3 It makes me very squishy on the inside.
The planets on the bottom were going to be the Earth and the moon but I *coughcoughwastolazytodrawcontinentscouhg*wanted to draw something more surreal.
A detailed version of Verran is in the scraps since this was MAJORLY sized down.

But, I saved this for last because I knew I was gonna fav it :3
But man. All kinds of awesome going on here. For starters, Verran's pose is really nice, and you did an excelent job drawing his hand. The lineart is smooth and well tapered. The clothing folds look totally awesome. And the coloring is absoloutely amazing. I love the subtle watercolory look of them, especially on Verran's jacket. The background itself is really amazing as well. The planets and stars and nebulae things look really amazing. The composition is very good too, and the whole thing has a wonderfully surreal feeling to it.

Those two space bodies are totally going to be the moons of Werven IV, Y'tineres and Ecaep. And Verran is definitely a Tempest Beast. And ohsnap, I want Tempest Beast!Verran's shirt. That's amazing. xD
About the actual picture: I love it. The entire idea for the piece is brilliant; I just love how you get inspired in the most creative ways. Your spacescapes are incredible and, as always, I'm really impressed with your human anatomy. The hand looks a little strange, but you're so good at drawing them anyway that minor flaws are easily overlooked. And, for some reason, I like the color scheme you gave his clothing.

Omg folds. You fugging pwn at those things. I try to draw them and they just turn out fuglyyyyyyyyy you do them and it's like "OMFGSOBYOOTEEFULL!" XD
I like that he's upside down. Not sure why exactly, but I do.
Question- to create that kind of shimmery effect on the open space, did you have black and then lighten it slightly with dodge at a low setting, or something more artsy and in depth and PHOTOSHOP-y. XD *curious*

Basically what I used was a very dark green and purple gradient and then airbrushed in a darker purple. That's it.
