Description EDIT: I've just updated this with Edition 6 of the MSS stable map, which has much prettier colors, and a couple extra features.

So, I've been looking around at real stable maps and other people's stable maps, and finally came up with this. I love the detail and stuff... Please download for a view in which you can imagine the relative size of the buildings better.

See HERE for more information regarding the stable layout.

Descriptions:

Barns
Main Barn: This is where the majority of our mares and geldings are kept. It has 17 14 x 14 stalls, a wash stall, and 4 sets of cross-ties. The floor of the barn is made of dark wood. Each stall has a door to the aisle and a door to the courtyard outside.

Old Barn: Many of the lesson horses live in the old barn, as well as a few foals. It has 8 12 x 12 stalls, a lesson office, two wash stalls, and 3 sets of cross-ties.

Stallion Barn: Almost all of our stallions live here. It has 12 14 x 14 stalls, two wash stalls, and three sets of cross-ties.

Guest Facilities

Guest barn: This barn has 24 12 x 12 stalls, four wash stalls, six sets of cross-ties, a tack room, and a small office. In the case that there are more than 30 horses from other stables staying at MSS, some can stay in the spare stalls of the main barn.

Guest houses: Each of the 10 guest houses at MSS has two apartments, each on one floor. Each apartment is equipped with two bedrooms (2 twin beds each), a bathroom, a small living area, and a partial kitchen. Most meals will be served at the Café. If more than 80 people are staying at MSS at once, for a show or other reasons, some may have to sleep on couches, in trailers (if they've brought them), or in Charlotte's guest bedroom.

Guest paddocks: There are five main guest paddocks, though in the case of overflow, guest horses can stay in the main pastures. Each has a paddock shelter, an automatic water trough, and enough space for up to three horses. They are specially designed to be long enough for energetic horses to be able to run. Each guest horse is allowed a maximum of three hours in a pasture per day, unless nobody else needs to use it.

Café

The Mystic Seaside Café: The Café is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It serves a wide variety of food, and guests can come here for meals. If you don't want to eat at the café, you can get takeout instead. The café is also where staff can come for lunch breaks. The chefs, Michael Pazolli and Sarita Lamborne, are around from 7:00 AM to 8:30 PM, and the dessert display is stocked with cakes, pastries, frozen treats, and of course, a wide variety of horse treats.

Pasture Facilities

Pastures: MSS is equipped with five large pastures, two two-horse pastures, 4 single-horse pastures, and five guest pastures. This allows enough space for over 40 MSS horses, and 15 guest horses at a time. Each pasture has 3-rail fences made of dark wood.

Paddock shelters: Most pastures have at least one shelter, with enough space for three horses to fit comfortably. In the case that all the horses in a given pasture can't fit during a rainstorm or the like, there are numerous trees in the large pastures which horses can use for shelter.

Small Pastures: There are a few smaller pastures, which horses are turned out in for short amounts of time, or if they are sick/injured and shouldn't be running around.

Horse Care

Tack room: This is inside the same building as the office, and contains tack for both lesson horses and boarders. Guest tack is stored in the guest barn. The tack is always kept clean, and there is a rack with saddle soap, toothbrushes, and sponges to keep the saddles and bridles shiny. In the back, there are a washing machine and dryer for blankets, saddle pads, and wraps.

Feed storage: The feed storage shed has eight bins containing different types of feed, and the attic contains refills. There are multiple stacks of buckets inside as well.

Straw/shavings storage: This building contains many bales of straw and shavings.

The Vet: The vet at MSS, Penelope Westfield, is always around to take care of the horses. She owns a house next to the end of the stable's driveway, and is on-site from 10:00AM to 6:00PM most days.

Riding Areas

Cross-country course: The cross-country course starts near the dressage arena and continues along the beach and back into the forest on the southernmost part of the property. In the forest segment, you'll be sure to see a wide variety of deer, elk, moose, rabbits, foxes, birds, squirrels, chipmunks, insects, and other wildlife.

Trail: The trail, located near the indoor arena, is a great place to cool off after a lesson or training session, of just to relax on a warm day. The trail is around a mile long, though there are various shortcuts along the way. It passes by Whitetail Pond, which is around half a square mile, and has a few islands with loon nests on them. Deer, elk, foxes, birds, coyotes, and other animals come to drink there, so you're sure to see at least a few animals as you pass by. The trail is made of pretty hard-packed soil with a layer of sand on top, though it gets quite muddy in rainstorms.

The Beach: MSS is located right on three miles of beach, circling a small, sheltered bay. The beach is set about 10 feet below the level of the pastures, at the base of a small hill. It's a great place to cool off with the horses in the summer, or to train them. Some of our horses enjoy swimming there, and Charlotte owns a small sailboat which she takes out on occasion. The cross-country course runs along here, and all the arenas look out on it. Approximately a half mile from the shore is a series of long sandbars which emerge at low tide. Between the beach and the sandbars is Chikawnee Island, a three-acre island covered primarily in forest and populated by deer, caribou, and many birds. In late fall, the deer and caribou swim across the channel to the mainland, where they spend the winter, and then swim back to the island. (Note that the water is shown at high tide, when the water is at its highest.)

Forest Preserve: Part of MSS is a 200-acre wildlife preserve. It has a huge abundance of wildlife, and has many ponds, streams, hills, and a few paths and trails. The horses love it there, and there are a huge amount of wild strawberries growing everywhere in June. Next to our reserve is 3,000 acres of conservation land, owned by the state. Horses are not allowed here most of the time, but it's still a great place for hiking and camping.

Outdoor arena: The large outdoor arena can be used for both flat work and jumping. Guests are free to use the outdoor arena at any time. It is equipped with all sorts of jumps, and is where show jumping is held during events. Two sides are shaded by trees, providing relief on hot days.

Dressage Arena: This is located just to the east of the main outdoor arena. It is equipped with a white rail fence, and is marked with letters in the corners and along the sides.

Lesson Arena: The lesson arena is just to the south of the dressage arena. It is the smallest of the arenas, but has plenty of space for cantering and jumping, and there are usually a few small cross-rails set up for jumping students. Beginner students sometimes ride in the roundpens if they require a lunge line, and advanced students ride in the main outdoor arena.

Indoor arena: The indoor arena is nearly the same size as the outdoor, and is equipped with jumps and a viewing area, for watching training sessions and shows. The footing is soft sand and rubber. The walls are wood to five feet up and glass to eleven feet up, where the roof begins. Between the glass panels are rustic wooden beams.

Round pens: There are two round pens at MSS, each with a diameter of 30 feet, used primarily for training horses.

Other

The office: This is where all the files are kept, and where new horses and riders can register. There is usually somebody in there who can help with any problems. It can also serve as a waiting room, if you arrive early for a lesson.

Owner's House: The 2,800 square foot main house is located off a branch of the MSS driveway. It was built around 1810, though minor renovations have been made since then. Charlotte, Gwen, two stable hands, and Charlotte's pets (two beagles, three cats, and a fox) live here. It has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a powder room, a living room, an office, a dining room, a spacious kitchen, a laundry room, and many windows looking out on MSS and the ocean. The yard is shaded by trees, but has a large vegetable and flower garden in the front. It has a small porch, which was added in 2007.

Parking: The parking lot has enough space for multiple trailers and quite a few cars, though it often overflows during shows.

Apple Orchard: The orchard is on the left of of the driveway as you're driving in. It's about two acres, and is cared for by our wonderful groundskeeper. In the fall, it's open to everyone at MSS for picking.

Driveway: The MSS driveway is about 3/8 of a mile long, and is bordered by the orchard to one side and meadows to the other. The driveway is lined by tall sugar maples.

Anyway, enjoy! (Sorry I keep updating this map, haha)

Yes!
They're small, white cottages with dark roofs. Each has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a small kitchen/living room area. They're relatively modern inside, and have shells decorating most of the window sills. In front, there are small gardens surrounded by very short, white picket fences. I'll try and draw them over the summer, but hopefully that's enough to work with for now?

That'll be awesome! I don't know where I'm going to draw them yet >> But I almost have this mental image of Julian setting down his things in the cottage or getting Cola situated in the guest barn and crossing his fingers that he won't bite any innocent passersby....

Oops, forgot to upload it.
Haha, the guest barn might be a good idea. The doors are swinging, and look like this: [link] Each stall has an inside door facing the aisle, and a door on the other side, which is a similar style but with walls on either side of the door.
Gosh, I should really draw those too...
