"Everyone keeps asking me - all us Aerialbots, really - what flying feels like. I tried to explain the first few times, but -- well, after the blank stares the slaggers gave me, I gave up on that. I mean, how -do- you explain it to slaggin' ground-pounders? It's like... like a fish trying to explain what swimming feels like, or something.So, now when people ask me what flying feels like? I just give 'em one word.
Freedom.

Yeah, the orange face always annoyed me. And the original cartoons could never keep it consistent anyway - sometimes it was grey, sometimes it was orange. I prefer the grey 'cause it makes more sense, and makes the orange visor stand out more.

Ah interesting I didn't pick it up with the grey face but yeah his face and optics blended into together too conveniently, thus why I did fan art with him having blue optics instead. Cool to know your reason!

It's weird, as personality-wise, I like Skydive and 'Bolt far better, and if I ever met a Slingshot IRL, I'd probably want to kick him in the nuts. But he's a Harrier, and I can't help but like those things. Who doesn't love a jet that can hover?

Haha yeah, the whole hovering Harrier thing is a major part of why he's my favourite. XD And I totally understand wanting to punt him to the horizon, hehe. At the same time though, I can really empathise and identify with the whole lack of self-confidence thing. I don't necessarily agree with how he hides it, granted, but I get it. XD

True, the lack of self esteem I can also relate to and the jock persona certainly is one way of dealing with it. It does make one wonder what he'd be like without that need for a cover though. Still a jerk? Or more like Air Raid but less crazy?

I suppose it depends on when he stopped needing that cover. If he'd never needed it, he probably would've been something like a less-crazy Air Raid. Heck, given the things he -can- do well, he might've even become at least a little legitimately egotistical. XD
If he only got rid of it after a long time of using it though, I can see it being hard for him to stop being at least something of a jerk. Old habits die hard and all that, heh. Not to mention, by that time people would be expecting it, and would probably be at least somewhat suspicious if he suddenly started being nice.

True. I know some write him as being socially awkward in part because of that. When he wants to be 'nice' he doesn't really know how to and hilarity ensues. Character development is the tastiest!

Heh yeah, I totally agree. Hell, I did something like that in Flying High, with him and Air Raid. XD Granted, Sling wasn't trying to be nice at the time, but he still didn't know how to express his feelings. Hopefully that came across right, aheh.
