How lovely.
*Scrooge: *rides off on Mr. Ed* Off to me next great adventure!
*Hiram Flaversham (from The Great Mouse Detective) & Farmer Smurf: *run after them* Scrooge! Wait up!

I always remembered him as Philsby from "The Time Machine, 1966", where the writers for the original Duck Tales got the idea to use his voice. There was a certain special wisdom in his Scottish accent that really drove home his warning to The Traveler.

While a shame that he's gone. I really can't feel sad when a person dies who is in at least their late 80's. The man lived a long and very full life and his time was bound to come sooner or later.

He went in the best way; surrounded by loved ones, after a great life.
I think there's a level of sadness for the people who enjoyed his work because his legacy is over. No matter who replaces him now, the characters Mr. Young portrayed no longer have their voice. That is what people mourn for when we don't know them personally. The tidbits of their life gave us a sneak peek, but ultimately we loved him for what he helped bring to life.
I'm supportive of the new guy who'll be playing Scrooge's voice, and look forward to seeing a new Scrooge. But, he'll never replace Alan Young's work. Only stand beside it.

Also reminds me of when he played the White Knight in an animated musical edition of Alice's Adventures Through the Looking Glass (with Alice wearing jeans and having a love interest with the Red Queen's jester...)

Very sorry to hear my friend, but i meant it in the term of people who leave this plane of existence are freed of what we must deal with. So both him and your grandmother, i believe, are free of pain and suffering. In particular, I heard Mr. Young passed away with his family around him, and at 96. He lived a glorious wonderful life and blessed us with his acting skills and memorable voice. I will always appreciate him; for what he's done acting wise and the kindness he showed to the Horse he worked with. Regardless of my feelings though, I hope i didn't offend.

"Well what kinda name is Wilbur for a man?"
Gonna miss him.
