...as long as you actually like it!I've seen a lot of people get bashed for liking a popular series, artist, movie, and others bragging about how everything they enjoy is underground, or unpopular, or unknown to everyone else.
Guys, it's not a crime to like popular things or artists! So what if you're into Lady Gaga, or Naruto, or anything like that? Of course people will always make fun of your likes, and we all have our opinions and tastes, but never feel like you have to hide what you like because of other people.
I'll admit it now: I like mainstream music nowadays. I've enjoyed a Lady Gaga song, Rihanna, Jay Sean, Justin Timberlake, Fall Out Boy, even Backstreet Boys! (LE GASP).
Also big Nintendo fantard here!
I don't hate the other consoles either! I also like things people may not have heard of. Mostly metal songs, techno/trance and remixes! If any of you judge me because of this now, well that's on you.
I also wont mind if you poke fun at what I like. XD Really, I would too! I know what I like is what I like, and it doesn't bother me that other people don't like it.
Let's all learn to chill and not slap such harsh labels on each other for likin' what we like!
Also don't like popular things JUST because they're popular, okay? XD

I worry sometimes about admitting I like certain things that are popular, because...well I don't want people to assume that I'm 'following the crowd' or 'just trying to fit in' I like something because I like it regardless if it's popular or not ^^

If you like something that IS popular, you're a "follower" or "sheep"

This goes both ways. Don't LIKE popular things cause they are popular, and don't HATE them cause they are popular. Both I agree with, and personally popularity is shallow at best 
I would say it shows HOW good something is, but then you get crud like BEIBER. HOW IS THAT GOOD? IDK.... He needs another hit from the water bottle fairy >m>

FINALLY the TRUTH! Most of the things are music. I persnally don't like Lady Gaga, Justin Beiber, and Ke$ha, and I have a few friends who think so too, yet they have their songs in their iPods and they don't even like it! It's just stupid.
I listen to things I like, like Linkin Park, Sum 41, Alesana, Evanescence; and when LP got a short moment of fame when Transformers 1-2 and Twilight came out, everyone started to like them just because of the popular movies, not their music

And exactly. It's the sad truth! People out there latch onto what's popular so they have things to talk about with others. Now to be fair, some people probably have discovered LP from the TF movie, and sought out more music.
