It's an interesting take on assassins, since we've seen what some look like from Assassin's creed 2 and brotherhood. I just don't see heavy armor with assassins, they're supposed
to be silent and that armor would clang be get caught on things

I made a portfolio on DA : ), went to a 3d school and worked my ass off for a year. Got my first job at a small company and shortly after applied to Ubisoft.
The hardest part was breaking the ice into the industry, after that the contacts help you sooo much.

you are so very very lucky bro.. I would eat my own sketchbook to be in your shoes right now.. I bet you know what happens in Revelations.. TT_TT but do they hire graphic designers btw?
so what's it like working in Ubisoft. is it ultra top secret stuff when it comes to the AC stuff and other video games?

I don't know much about Roman clothes styles and such, but personally I don't really like the red sash/cloth thing going from his waist to his shoulder. The whole outfit looks more combat orientated and the red thing just looks looks out of place ontop of the armor. Also the hood doesn't really look like it belongs with the rest of the outfit if that makes any sense. I just can't see what it would be attached to since this looks very much like a soldiers outfit and to me it would make more sense to have a helmet ontop of an outfit like that. (Maybe a hood shaped helmet..? Nah thats just silly.)
Still very neat work, but then again, you have to be pretty darn good to get your foot into a place like that!

Thx NikitaDarkstar,
All along the process, these things have been bugging me, the red, the hood, didn't quite fit the theme... but I was under certain constraints, like keeping the hood, the color red for clothing just so that we can recognize the assassin from the other games. But concept wise I think you are totally right : )
Cheers

Hmm well perhaps downsizing/removing the shoulder protectors (I'm sorry, I really don't know the english terms for alot of armor parts and such) and make the hood drape down over his shoulders abit more? Or atleast show that it's attached to the shirt under the armor?
I don't know. Still this looks very neat, and I'm looking forward to seeing a refined version of this. (And I'd get a heart attack from the pure awesomeness of Assassins Creed set in Rome... but we've already covered Italy, we're further ahead time wise.. and if they were taking AC to Rome I doubt we'd see concept art on DA before they had even announced something like that... ohwell a girl can dream!)

oooh very cool!
the only thing that might improve it is to add the assassin's symbol on the belt. make it like silver or gold.
and maybe add a purple border to the red toga part, in roman times purple was worn only by very important people like senators, emperors, ...

SLabreche In reply to BabyBlueBass [2010-07-30 23:44:02 +0000 UTC]
Hey BabyBlue,
I totally agree, more silver or gold would have make more sense.. I'll tweak it so that the yellow part seem more reflective to give him more importance/elite look. Thanks for the comments, its really appreciated!
