I do wish he'll be fine, and not getting hurt badly. looks painful when landing on the ground with improper position...

I think this is another picture you showed me at the con, I think I could have a repeat phrase about this pic.
"Owch, I hope he's ok." I wonder though if he could just slow to a hover and then drop after flying a few feet above the ground? Actually, this pic also enhances why Flair is so clumsy too.

That sounds good on paper but, using your wings all the time would make you tired sooner or later..when making a landing it would be best to take it slow.
