In Rowan's wandering to do repairs, he h eard an odd sound from the ruins of an older building. One that didn't stand much of a chance of withstanding an act of god like a quake, its rickety old chimney having collapsed downwards and across the roof. Bricks and stonework crashed through the old shingles and woodwork, laying cast about the decayed old interior. But the base of the structure, the arching opening to an old-fashioned stonework hearth-- that remained intact. And right there inside it, protected under its shadow, a little fire survived.
