Gorgeous painting. The colors and composition remind me a bit of Bill Sienkiewicz. I wish I was still painting in oil, but i can't take the smell, and the clean up!

Interesting. I had to look him up possibly the bold red and black of the sleeves gives that impression.
You know there are aqua oils and also genesis heat set oils as a non smell easy clean up option. Im fussy since I prefer oils to acrylic paints and with genesis I dont feel a diffenrce.

I knew about the aqua oils, but never tried them. The genesis oils are new to me, but it's been so many years since I've worked in any oils. I may have to try them. There are ways to make acrylics flow more like oils, and ways to mix them to get very close to the look as well. but no, nothing is quite like real oil.

You can buy samples of genesis so, you dont have to put out alot of money to try them. They are buttery, but firm and dont cure/dry until they are baked or hit with a heatgun.
I paint my sculptures with it and I feel its comparable to real oils though the color range is no where near as wide.

Hmm well I actauly did an oil study of a real pomegrate, but the meat is faceing down otherwize youd only see the skin of the fruit. The hand I think looks odd holding it.
I kinda agree about the hair and gneraly the hair is a black mass missing highlights and shape.
I might do it. I havent sculpted a full vampite based peice. Though her clothing isnt properly greek and actauly referance to the myth is thin. Im not sure anyone would realize with a diffenrt title.

Its one of my favorite things to do. To reveal the rest of the story! Details about what went on behind the scenes or an element that actualy pulls an obvious non factual story closer into plausabilty.

Yup because in the original tale we dont know why that pomagranate seed trapped her into returning to the underworld. But the imagery of the pomegranate is seductive and blood lust like. Oh I dont know if you noticed but she also has a tiny striped dragon on her shoulders!
Ive added an eye opening change to Midsommer nights dream ,but Ive yet to make that peice so, I wont tell how Ive altered it.

Oh oh, now I understand. Vampirism does bring it closer to the realm of logic.

very lovely painting Anita, would like to have seen it's colours a bit bolder, I'm sure the photo doesn't do it justice.

Yeah this isnt a good shot. The reds and purples are very deep and rich. Its hard to get clear photos because of the shine on the textures. This is an old snapshot too. with my old camera. Her sleeves have an impasto paint tech used so they have a 3d quality. The rest is painted very flat and smooth.
