Staining the pages
Like rain and soot

We kept thinking about brokenness
In every rhyme,
Every line
Entropy of hope

A frozen balloon
Shattered by hammers
Crumbled to the floor,
Rain of innocence

We shook until we ached,
Balancing self-worth with
Wary dereliction
The orbit of collapsing starz

Was it the words she whispered?
The breath she lost?
She kept speaking, behind the glass,
Drifting into the abyss . . .Β
