Description About the Art: A before and after look at my colored God of War drawing. A year or so ago, I colored my black and white version of God of War. At the time, I thought it was awesome. I was looking through my gallery to see what I could color, and I saw my old god of war colored. I thought it would be a great oppertunity to improve it and make it better than it was, so I started almost from scratch and recolored it. I have to say, I am very pleased with the results. I cannot believe how crappy the old color looks next to the new one! I surprised even myself with how much better it looks!.

I LOVE COMMENTS, SO PLEASE LEAVE ME SOME

I was having technical difficulties, so you will have to watch this video in parts.

Materials Used: To color this, I used a mouse and a website called picnik.com and just used "doodle", utilizing various options such as nomal, multiply, overlay, ect. Nothing too fancy.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhYES! >8D LOOKIT DEM ABS! LOOKIT DEM SWORDS! Oh my GOD the volume on everything! I see depth and I see width and just holy pims! OH MY GOD LOOK AT THOSE ARMS WHAUGH! The cloth and the feet and the face and the exposed and armored shoulders and everything!

Gotta say, summing all of that up, you have colored this AMAZINGLY well compared to the way it was. Wow.
Expectations raised. This is f*cking amazing.

You have no idea how happy this comment just made me! I really tried to give the black and white drawing the depth it lacked. Although, if I do say so myself, the B&W drawing is still pretty BA. Still, I wanted to make this appear more 3D and developed. I still have a lot of work to do on it, such as adding the proper shading, lighting, and details, but I really appreciate such a lovely comment! Really, thank you so much! I'm so lucky to have you as a watcher!

I like the change the swords went through.

I wouldn't have thought it needed improvement either.

Thank you so much! I tried to put a little more effort and detail into the swords this time around, so I'm glad you took notice! haha me neither! I knew I wanted to do some touch-ups to it, but I didn't realize how badly it needed it until after I finished! But there's still work to be done on it I need to work on getting the lighting right. I'm really bad about not showing where the light is...

I can tell you you're better than me at it, for sure. I don't even color my work. or take it past the doodle phase. Hell, who'm I kidding, I rarely DO work. XD

I really, REALLY like the new refined look and slightly stronger features : D
I donΒ΄t know whether my love of black and white can overpower these colors any more...
Awesome again!

Really? haha thank you so much! I agree with you. The features are much stronger. They actually make the drawing pop out more, i think. Hahaha I know what you mean. It's hard to decide which one I like better as well. If you do decide, let me know!

Thanks so much! I agree, it does add a lot. It really brings out the paleness of his skin and the new one looks much cleaner. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

So you say it's more interesting....is it better do you think? I'll agree the other one does have a certain...style to it that appeals to me, but I think the newer version is of much higher quality

Dk-Raven In reply to Slightly-Spartan [2011-07-28 20:41:47 +0000 UTC]

I like it better. I love how you used textures and for some reason it looks a bit more detailed to me

Slightly-Spartan In reply to Dk-Raven [2011-07-29 16:02:54 +0000 UTC]

I agree Thank you very much! I think it is more detailed. I spent a lot more time on creating new highlights and lowlights, rather than just relying on the shading that was already there
