Yes, that took me hours. HOURS.H0KAY, some things to explain about this one. For those of you who don't know, War of the Worlds was once broadcast on the radio in 1938 and people all over the place thought it was real...resulting in much trauma and chaos. I got this idea from that.
This one is linked to my other comic about aliens, The Signs Effect, which established the fact that the Slade in my comics is slightly paranoid about alien invasionsss.
The "Swing away" comment is a spoof from the Signs film. The hats and the water thing is also spoofed from Signs.
And finally, all of the stuff said from the radio is taken from the actual transcript of what was broadcast in 1938, (with one or two improvisations.)

Yeah, I've heard the original broadcast for that once. I worked at a Science Museum and we were doing an Alien exhibit. I had managed to copy the data onto a CD for the exhibit. The staff and I were all sitting around a stereo listening to it. Our boss said "If I didn't know what this was from, I'd be worried now."

awesomeness. i once heard a recording of that radio show - they really did start a major panic. I think a few people nearly died. Half way through they had to make an announcement to tell people it was fictional... and then Jeff Wayne made a kick ass musical out of it, and Speilberg ruined it in a movie. Bah.
I prefered The Time Machine myself...

omfg, I just read about that brodcast in one of those huge english government tests, the one's that schools get more funding off of. But yeah, there were thousends of people just as freaked as Slade. It was an incredible brodcast to read, I can't imagen hearing it . . .

We got to listen to that recording in my LEAP class in fifth grade. (we did a whole unit on war of the worlds! :]) Our teacher told us that one of the towns had become so paranoid they mistook a water tower for a martian tripod. xD That must've been a helluva time.
