that's wonderful. I see so many things before I finally see what it is.. then more things.../ I dig that little row at the top like a strip of negatives or aerial snapshots.
weather cells and glimpse from the studio...

Wow, you just keep the goods coming don't you? Like a chef keeps knocking out delicious, mouth-watering meals. This is especially of interest to me because I'm in a printmaking class now. Oh, the process! This is nothing short of beautiful, I can't wait to see what decisions you took to improve this.

oh are you doing lithography now? yesyes.. wHAT a process! But I have really learned to love it. Like you said, it's really like cooking! (plus meditation and work out haha)
For this piece, I haven't changed too much of the image, but pulled out a bit of lighter parts. I've mainly been experimenting with thinner and more tactile hand made papers along with back lights. It's harder to capture that on camera, but I'll give it a try later on.

oh yes and about the Happy Together piece~ glad you like that too, but I probably should have clarified too that the far right is mine. The other 2 are done by my other 2 close friends by themselves But sometimes we would switch up and draw on each other's haha.

Very nice. I like the movement in this piece quite a bit. Also the feeling of fantasy. I see a hot air balloon traveling from star system to star system. I suppose it could be a blood cell travelling through the body though too...

*ponder*

As far as critique, I'd really just like to see a few more grays in certain areas because it seems a little too dark overall. Perhaps you did have those in the original, but they were lost in the printing process?

Either way, it's a very nice piece.

I'll have to fav it ^___^.

I found your comment on "cell traveling through blood vessels" a very interesting thought!! wow haha! I never saw it that way but I like it~~
yea, it was quite hard to get a good print out of a stone THAT big.. I don't know if you are familiar with lithography, but yea, I over etched some parts in the bottom where there's supposed to be more gradient and grey tones. I have been experimenting the print on different kinds of paper too. My favourite so far is on Japanese hand made paper (has some kind of gold threads running through). Since the paper is really thin, it looks pretty interesting with a back light behind it

thx for the +fav! Later!

I've made a few lithos before, but my favorite printmaking processes are lino and monotype. With lino, what you see is what you get and with monotype, I suppose it's just fun to get active with the ink and the application of it. Lithography is just so process-intensive that I couldn't get comfortable with it. There are just too many things that can go wrong.

You did very well, for it being over-etched though ^___^.

Glad you liked the "blood cell" comment. I took a genetics course last year and we discussed blood cells a bit and the shape of them. They apparently look like little spheres that have been pinched in the middle. The form in this piece just really reminded me of that.

And yes. The japanese papers ARE the best! You can give your piece a hint of any color you want, if you just slip a different paper behind it. And they have a very nice texture to them. I use them for my linos all the time.
