FINALLY DONE!!!!!!! MY FIRST EVER CG-ED FANART OF ANY CHARACTER FROM THE FF SERIES!!!! hoo boy
I was very lazy with this picture! Drew the sketch when I was suppose to b studying for one of the science subjects. (can't remember, but who cares???? IT'S OVER!!!!!) Why lazy? Wellllllll, if u look closely enough, you'll still see some pencil marks....because I only inked HALF the pic, and went straight on to cging! and i didn't bother to erase after. =.="
His sword was the killer. I never knew how hard it was to find references on his sword!!! and colouring it was just as bad. And i had no idea to put for the background, so in the end, just went for something real simple~! AND plain ^^
So, once more, you have a 'wing-it' pic from me! wing it as in...i used trial and error to get the effects. If it didn't work out, oh well. LET'S TRY SOMETHING ELSE! wheeeeee~ yep, I can't even remember what I did or what tools I used except for the basic stuff. 8D
can't say I'm really happy with this one. Wanted to try cging and THEN get rid of the lineart but it seems I am still too dependent on it. ugh.
DILEMMA: should i or should i not put a watermark?? ><

Can't go wrong with simple and plain. Most art works done that way are sometimes easier to understand. Even if in this, case this pic was half inked or done lazily, this pic means allot to you. It's a well done image portrayed in the way you see Cloud. His pose , his stance and his expression are awesome. If anything, if it looks like Cloud in image and in color, than you've done your job. The fiery background is great in simplicity. It really provides a strong emphasis on fierce determination. Simple backgrounds is really all it takes to portray the character, especially Cloud. I love the detail of the sword. Even the reflection of the background can be seen on the blade which makes the simple background all the more effective. The more simple the background the more the character stands out, making the viewer to focus more on the character while being aware of the background that provides visual support.
From where I stand, it doesn't look like a lazy job at all. Not many people could really draw this well at all. And besides there is no correct way to draw anything, really. We all have our own style and perception of how we see characters and things. In every art, a bit of reflection of the artist can be seen. A great example of that is of Bugs Bunny. There are several versions of Bugs in the cartoon. We can recognize Chuck Jone's style from that of ...I can't remember the other artist's name. Darn, but you get the idea. Overall, this pic is very well done, even if done lazily. I would have never known that. Some artist's would use half ink for artistic purpose to visually communicate a certain message, even if another artist would discover that it seems incomplete. Perhaps that was the whole idea of the drawing. The artist is communicating a feeling of incompleteness, or expressing a cliff hanger from an episode. Anything's possible in the art world.

I was stiff in art too. Eventually I learned to broaden the way I draw and color after viewing other artworks which inspired me to strive for versatility. Imporvement in art is part of the adventure as well. The fun thing too is that you can look back at your old drawings and see just how far you've improved. That with personal experiences, affects the way you draw. It's really cool when you think about it. Being an artist has so much advantages you'd be amazed how far your creativity can take you.

really nicely done coloring. I've tried doing CG coloring before & it's really time consuming!! I have the same problem with my lines too. Can't seem to get rid of 'em. You did a really good job on sword too. It is hard to find a reference for his sword.

Oh wow... This looks so awesome. His facial expression is so tense and serious. Looks like he is gonna kill some one for real in a few second. Amazing how you did that! And his pose is great. And the details, the shading, they are so good.
