Description Big Bird Meets the Orchestra is a 1993 Golden Storybook and Tape that teaches classical music and the sounds that instruments make. The book was an updated variation of the 1989 title Meet Big Bird's Orchestra , altered to include the then-current cast of characters. It is part of the Learn About Music series.

The Sesame Street Orchestra is rehearsing for a concert celebrating Slimey the Worm's  birthday. Scheduled conductor Don Music  can't make it, so Big Bird  takes over to step in as a conductor. Prairie Dawn  coaches him through it, teaching him how to conduct and the different instrumental sections, and how each instrument contributes to make "The Slimey Birthday Symphony" a resounding success.

FUN FACTS
- No famous classical pieces are included in this version, instead using brief, original music by producer Geni Sackson .
- The instrument sounds are played by REAL musicians - or maybe so? (I have to say real musicins playing plus some vintage synths from Yamaha and Roland) We guess Mrs. Sackson did a very fine job composing these beautifully brief original musical snippets for each instrument. Congratulations to Geni Sackson!
- "The Slimey Birthday Symphony" is indeed original music composed by Geni Sackson.
- The running time for the book is approximately 18 minutes.
- Let's rethink it: did you know that... there is no famous classical tunes and all the music were composed by Eugenia Sackson. I like that music... even Big Bird does, too!
