Working with TommyZ again - here's his new hood design for the 2010 Camaro.There's a few other things he's working on too which I'll be modeling as soon as he sends me more pics.
I finished the mapping yesterday, so I had to do it up in Bumblebee paint.
I'll probably replace this render down the road when I get all the other stuff from the movie put on there (diff fogs, chin spoiler, and the rims they use).
The halos worked out pretty darned well too. That's just how they render in Max (when they're on). No photoshopping needed.

awesome job man. if i were to get a camaro, id swap out the front fender with the bumblebee one cause i know theyll have it. BTW how did you get that angel eye to work? and could one make that work in Maya?

I hope they're going to make that front end... there's just way too many people demanding it.
If GM doesn't, I'm sure an aftermarket company will...
I'm not sure if the halos would work in Maya, but that uses Mentalray too right? So it should work...
It's just a Generic Pro Material set to a nice bright-blue diffuse... medium reflection, transparent, and then given a bit of self-illumination. The Luminance value will depend on the exposure you use, I'm sure... and then the filter color and temperature are just set depending on what color you'd like them to be.
Most importantly though, in the Renderer tab of the render setup (not sure if Maya has this), under Camera Effects/Camera Shaders, enable Output and put a Glare shader in there... that's it. You can modify the glare settings by dragging it to a material sphere, but it's probably not necessary.

That hood is spectacular, those rims are amazin', the reflections are absolutely gorgeous....I think I just drooled on the keyboard a little.
