Actually, you can. But ONLY when someone else gives you the points through one of two ways:
1. Pay to download (the method being used here)
2. commission widget
And before you ask, if you try making one of your own accounts to buy from yourself, DA will detect that, cancel the transaction and send a warning note to not do it again. I've never done it myself, but someone did make a journal about it when they did it.

if you choose the purchase button when subitting a devation, people pay the file for points(100 for example) and dA put it in your Earnings as $1 *0*
I do this with my Buy a Base, like in my recent journal :3 They get a big blurry preview so they cant steal it, and pay points for the original, with layers included ^-^ (you have to make sure they cant download the original file though, by unchecking the download button)
