Origin:
The first Dr. Light was his partner at STAR Labs, a scientist named Jacob Finlay. Finlay had used a technically advanced suit to control light as a small-time superhero, but he was killed by Arthur Light while his career was still taking off. Arthur killed him by using Jacob's own tech to melt his face off. Arthur took the suit and the "Doctor Light" name and used them for criminal means. Arthur was a little bit traumatized by how gruesome Jacob's death was, he believed Jacob was trying to speak to him. He first fought the Justice League and, when he failed to defeat that group, he fought their sidekicks and former sidekicks, the Teen Titans. He then founded the Fearsome Five, after a few missions Doctor Light grew fond of his teammate Shimmer, who was only sixteen at the time. Arthurs affections were not recipucated, so Doctor Light drugged Shimmer and unfortunately for Shimmer he raped her. Light was violently expelled from the Five by his teammates after they found out beating him nearly to death.

He became a serial rapist and understandably not many villains wanted to work with him. Arthur became a lone wolf and would begin to become a serial killer. after a failed mission to kill Black Canary he was sent to Arkham Asylum for the criminally insane. He would become a foe of Captain Atom when Arthur decided to become a terrorist by trying to blow up the white house, Arthur Light is able to absorb Captain Atoms energy projection causing him to be a serious foe to him.

Powers & Abilities:
Dr. Light has the ability to manipulate light for many purposes, using his suit. Later, he managed to acquire these powers and use them without having the suit on. He can manipulate light around himself to become invisible, create solid blasts of energy, make force fields and constructs, cast illusions and fly. By repulsing photons only using his mind, Dr. Light can make areas of total pitch-black darkness. He can power himself up by absorbing light from the surrounding area, but his limit is not known. This control extends so far that he can draw out energy even if it is not being used. For example, he could see Superboy's heat vision in his body even when it wasn't being used, and was able to pull it out of his eyes against his will and use it as a weapon. He also showed a feat where he would take away "internal light" from other super powered people, such as the Ray and the heroic Doctor Light. Dr. Light also has a genius level intellect, he is a genius in the field of physics. Originally, Doctor Light derived his powers and abilities from his suit, but over time he has internalized this power and ability, and can use his light-controlling-manipulating powers and abilities without having to use his suit but he kept the suit because he liked it.
