Mari McCabe was born in Zambesi, She is the daughter of Queen Jiwe who later possessed the magical Tantu Totem. This is a magical artifact, created by Anansi the Spider, the African trickster god, which bestowed the wearer the same powers as Anansi. Soon, Mari found herself as an orphan after her Mother and Father was killed by Mustapha Maksai her uncle who ran the country as a dictatorship. She became a refugee and ended up in New York, where she would use her powers given to her by her Totem to protect the rough streets she lived on. She became the Vixen and was a founding member of the Justice League.

A year after joining the Justice League she traveled to home country of Zambesi which had now become a war torn country, She managed to overthrow her uncle Mustapha Maksai and became the Queen of Zambesi. The country flourished under Vixen's rule and became an african paradise.

Powers & Abilities:
Vixen is one of the most powerful and versatile female characters on Earth. She possesses a connection to the Red, the magical link that connects all animal life on the Earth. Vixen's connection to the Red allowed her to channel the abilities of various animals around the world, giving her a variety of superhuman powers. Normally, she uses this power for flight and to enhance her speed, strength, senses, and healing abilities. She occasionally uses the poisonous abilities of certain animals. Vixen can regenerate from nearly nothing due to extremophiles. She once regenerated from being disintegrated.

The many powers she can channel are to make herself as light as an ant, or as heavy as an elephant. Due to birds Vixen can fly unaided. Vixen can possess the strength of animals such as elephants and hippos. She was able to pull a car with the strength of a rhino. Vixen can possess the speed of the fastest animals on earth including the power of Cheetah. Due to several species of animal Vixen has enhanced senses. Mari posses the smell of a bear. Her sense of smell is so good she was able to smell a girl who was in another state. Vixen has the agility of monkeys. Mari is able to mimic a dolphin to leap very high. Mari is an adept investigator, she is able to use her superhuman senses in conjunction with her own deduction skills to successfully solve a mystery. She can breath underwater as well as camouflage herself practurly turning her invisible. She is able to mimic the abilities of Animal like beings like Cheetah, Killer Croc, Krypto and Gorilla Grodd.
