Below the deck of the Sea Viper in the cargo hold where she was stowed as a hostage Pepper Lee could look out through a small porthole to view the fireworks festivities across Cutlass Bay. Since her legs were free she thought of vaulting up some of the crates to go topside to get a better view but her captors Vince and Rap wouldn't take take kindly to their strictly bound and gagged prisoner standing in full view. There would be other boats moored in the bay tonight for the fireworks.
Then she heard load music blaring topside and accompanying whoops. Pepper Lee carefully clambered up the crates leading up to the hatch and carefully peered above to check out the commotion. The fireworks were blazing across the night sky along with the patriotic soundtrack emitting from a boombox beside a beer cooler. And her two guards in their makeshift seats were fully occupied with the festivities. Pepper Lee was able to step quietly on deck unnoticed amid all the noise. She stood for a while about ten feet from the thugs whose backs were turned to her and enjoyed the display right along with them and wondered how long she could get away with it before she was caught.
Then it occurred to her that the Sea Viper was still docked at the pier with gang plank down. Gee guys, she thought, I'd love to stay and enjoy the rest of the show with you but I think I'm going to go look for a better spot to watch it from. She scurried lightly like a rabbit in her bare feet as Rap let out another whoop and Vince shouted how awesome it all was. You drunkies won't be feeling so awesome tomorrow when you have to explain to Frank Scratch how you lost his ace in the hole he will need for Sunshine Salvage's cooperation in his latest heist.
