Hello, I'm doing a project on Robert Rauschenburg for my A-levels. What techniques did you use to copy his style? How do you create the layering of imagery? Where do you source your imagery from? And is there a story/hidden meaning behind the work that you've done / copied?
Many thanks, I'd really appreciate your help. Your work is really amazing and so clearly shows links with the amazing Rauschenburg, and i'd love to be able to re-create something similar.

sory for a late relpy. been without the intrnet for soem time now.
i created this one quite a few years back. i rember not so much trying ro recreate his style as i was trying to pay hommage. all the stuff was just scrapes realy. i used some scrap bits of inked up paper i found on the floor of a pritmaking studio thats what you see in the top right corner. most of the images come from a book i had about new york graffiti. i recall Rauschenburg worked out of his new york studio with all found things so it seemed fitting. i dirrtyed the whole thig up with charcoal i wanted it to look rough around the edges. hope that helped

Rauschenberg is so inspireing. yeah its charcoal realy helped dirty it up and pick up textures. the part about brick was from an artical i read when i think it was brazil in the poor district all the lower ends of the buildings had been chiped away becose the drug users had just been chipping them off and smoking them. the image just above the text is an image from the artical.
sounds interesting what your working on. i will keep an eye out for it

Damn, I love this one. Also a big Rauschenberg fan myself.
Is that charcoal above the "One Way" sign? I've been using charcoal on the piece I'm working on right now to get the texture to pop more.
BTW, how does one smoke "actual brick"? Ha!

thanks very much! how long..er i duno hour maybe? i rember it was a slow process just gathering up relevent images and working on the compasision for quitw a while ya know

yeah its been a bit since i uploaded summet man college and a new ps3 has been eating into my time haha.
