Description Annnnnd my other effort for !!
Happy birthday, you!

This is her OC Lin who I just had to draw since he's so adorable. xD He's a little warrior boy who got bitten on the leg (hence the bandage) by a lethal snake creature that's wound is going to kill him. During the story/game he comes from, he eventually gets killed by it but he can be saved~ so yay! XD

Here's the link to the big collab we all did for Primmy's birthday: [link] And once more, a belated happy birthday to you! <3

LIN

I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW YOU KNEW WHO LIN WAS BUT WOW FFFF NOW I'M JUST OVER THE MOON! He looks so cute and you made him look so soft and adorable and and and I just wanna give him a huge hug. ;w; And you a hug too. And don't worry about being late, really. At least you got it done and with the AoH exams it couldn't be helped, sadly. And I love all those small details and accessories on the outfit by the way! They really help complicate it without making it too complex. You're so good at those little things. And your style here reminds me of Suikoden so double bonus. ;w;

Thanks, Snowy, just thank you. This is awesome.

But I'm glad you like it, especially all the little details.
I couldn't resist bro

Wow. Your colouring really is superb. The shading and blending... The hair...! <3
I also really like your drawing style. There's a softness in it that really appeals to me.

I really like the pose, especially the fingers. It just adds that little bit extra to have them straight/tensed than in relaxed half-fist. And the expression is lovely too, once again

For some reason I like how you used the page-space; the character on the left and a big version of him on the right done in background blue. It just, simply put, looks good.

Thank you Satu! xD
Often times when I line a picture I really have no idea what sort of shading I should go for... so this soft style was quite a surprise for me too! I'm glad you like it~

And thank you once more - that hand was such a pain to do (must have redrawn it about 12 times) so I'm glad it has some personality to it!

And again, I must say thank you!
I debated a long time about how to arrange the page, if it looked too boring, too little transparency etc.. so it's a relief to hear it! XD
Thanks~!

the way you blend you shades would be great to know, if i try to blend my shades in they look all smudgey and stuff, it's really frustrating.....

Snow-the-Wanderer In reply to Necozuki [2011-11-05 06:09:59 +0000 UTC]

Well one of the first things I should say, is that I don't use the smudge tool. What I do is pick a shade color, and start shading with a default PS brush with the size jitter and the Opacity jitter set to pen pressure. You can blend the colours equally well with a brush that has soft edges or hard edges, it's just a matter of preference really (for instance, in this one, I did use a soft edge, because I wanted the colours themselves to blend more gently)
The actually blending is just a case of using the eye dropper tool (and is handily reached with the simple shortcut of the Alt key!) Eyedrop the middle color where the shade meets the flat colors and then blend them together!
This one has a pretty good example of it - and it might be fun to try some of the things that they do too! xD [link]
I thought I had a tutorial around that described the blending process in detail, but I can't seem to find it at the moment... c:

Snow-the-Wanderer In reply to Necozuki [2011-11-05 07:41:49 +0000 UTC]

I'm pretty sure any PS will be fine - but if you prefer using SAI then you should search DA for some good colouring tutorials. :>
I don't actually use SAI! xD
