and to use an appropriate needle for it too as it can get it stuck. also, clean the needle often to remove the stickiness. i would recommend a heavy duty one as it does also add an extra layer of thickness

While I've never seen any of these problems first hand, I'm sure those with flimsier, lighter weight machines could have these same problems. It's part of why I suggested the particular tape from the notions department, as it is so thin, it doesn't even add in the thickness of a piece of fabric to your piece. I could certainly see that happening with a tape that was possibly from an office supply store.
In either case, those are all great precautions, and it never hurts to be prepared just incase it does happen.

i use notions dept tape too and my machine isn't flimsy. needles are easily prone to getting some stickiness from tape on them no matter what the machine or product.

I understand that, which is why I said, it's good to be prepared just in case. I have had similar problems while trying to sew through similar items that have any kind of stickiness to them. I wasn't arguing with you. I was simply pointing out that I hadn't experienced that issue with that particular tape and I have seen myself and others have the issues I mentioned as well. These tips are all about sharing information and helping people, not saying anyone is more correct than another person.
