Description A drawing I did for my tuition student, for her birthday (completed yesterday). It's been a long time since I drew anything seriously, so it's good stress relief. Also, it's also the first time I used purples so extensively in a drawing... Purple coloured pencils tend to be the hardest to shade with, I find-- and it's a recursive characteristic which I find in all the brands I've used before. Even Faber Castel ones (both Classic and Water Colour pencils alike) can be quite a pain. Hence the sketchiness of the dress's texture, hmn. I am happy, however, with the eyes and the hair. Yes my usual obsession with long, flowing hair is evident. And green eyes!-- it's been a while since I managed to doing shading with eyes properly, too (no patience, I say).

Drew this with Waterhouse in mind... Yes I know it's nothing like the gorgeous paintings and the gorgeous women he painted, but I'm thinking the nubile and luminous qualities of the girl, the purples in her dress, and her wide-eyedness are quailify as my humble gesture towards his lovely art... (La Belle Dame Sans Merci and Lamia, in particular)!!! <-- he's also the reason why I've been so caught up with trying purples out recently, hehz.
